I'm interested in watching some really long distance shooting. It's fascinated me for a long time, just would like to see how it's done. Where and how far away can a person get to just watch some people doing this?
Yes come watch the next steel match at hawks ridge in Ferguson. Date To be determined.I'm interested in watching some really long distance shooting. Wow, that's really far from here. Almost 200 miles. But keep me posted, please, I might get inspired to make the drive.Yes come watch the next steel match at hawks ridge in Ferguson. Date To be determined.
I've never shot a rifle, but I'd love seeing some shooting. I'm still working on my handgun skills, so not ready to take up a new "thing" just yet. Lol.Hawks Ridge steel matches are a ton of fun. Great bunch of guys and gals too.
Don't just watch! Bring a rifle and join in. About any centerfire rifle will do for most targets, only must have item is a scope with exposed adjustable turrets to dial your elevation. Range is too far to simply "hold a little high" with a hunting optic.
I might have heard of it in a physics class awhile back, but I'll look it up. Thanks!read up on the Bernoulli effect, to understand the magic involved. if you haven't already
I can’t find a registration for the match?December 1, Absolute Sniper Match at Frontline Defense in Warrenton, out to 1,000 yds.
Open to spectators, bring hearing protection.
Frontline Defense, it's worth the trip.
Email Paul, it may be full and a standby list.I can’t find a registration for the match?
Sounds great, but let me guess....Warrenton is hours away from where I live, right??December 1, Absolute Sniper Match at Frontline Defense in Warrenton, out to 1,000 yds.

Up to 401 North, then back roads.Sounds great, but let me guess....Warrenton is hours away from where I live, right??
(Looking it up now.)
Ok almost 3 hours from here, BUT it's mostly interstate, which is good!
Why back roads? Interstate is faster, surely? But not sure I want to drive for 3 hours....we'll see...Up to 401 North, then back roads.
Did u send you a youtYou link for other long range event?
I'll look them up, thanks. (But everything is a good distance from my little town....)Not sure where you're located, but I shoot at Woody's Gun club. They're currently the longest distance range (550 yards) that is reasonably close to me. They've also announced they're in the process of starting a 1000 yard lane.

Woodys is still open? I thought about joining some time ago but was told by a few folks independently that Woodys was closing.
I like a challenge, but I'm pretty sure I'm just interested in seeing others shooting...for now. I'm still working on my handgun stuff.I would also recommend watching a match like the Absolute Zero series at Frontline Defense and Pigg River. But if you would also like to try your hand at long range marksmanship, Frontline Defense periodically runs a 2 day introduction to long range marksmanship class that does not require a membership or any prior experience. Also, Paul has rental rifles available so you do not have to invest in an expensive rifle setup before taking the class and finding out if it is something you are interested in continuing. By the end of the class, you WILL have shot targets out to 1000 yards. Paul is a good instructor and he has taught and qualified quite a few men, women and even a few kids to shoot long distance. But beware, long range marksmanship is fun and challenging and it can be really addicting.
