then it's good enough...

NO! It's not!

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has widened its assault deep inside Ukraine, appears to have sent soldiers into battle with cheap handheld radios or walkie-talkies made by China's Baofeng, posts on Twitter show.

ELINT and SIGINT has never been my thing; as I understand, their normal comms systems were actually more prone to ELINT/SIGINT intercepts as well as being able to be shut down. Again, what I read, and have no experience with this.

Super cool,

Nothing like unsecure commo on the tactical level. Its not like you can't jam / interrupt them with a few simple techniques.

And people talk about 3D chess. LOL

Seems like an excellent way to arrange ambushes. ;)

Some might be surprised at who uses uv5r radios on low power as part of an alternate/contingency coms plan. 😉
UV5R's are probably the most distributed and used prepper radios available. Everyone has one or more in their stores. They're affordable and they work. And there's plenty of accessories like batteries, antennas, headsets, etc.
There's a place for them. But, like any tool, more is in how it's used, rather than the tool itself.

I've been meaning to write up my take on a comprehensive comms plan. Just haven't had time for that level of concentration. But, considering the current global situation, maybe I'll get on it.

For all the hype about the Wagner Group being awesome and fierce fighters, they have gotten their asses kicked, in Syria (by us), and in Ukraine.

That holster is empty….guess they don’t need side arms.
