this weekend is Ken Eders show in Carthage, NC.

He has one of the largest privately owned collections of antique steam equipment, etc east if the Mississippi.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Niagara Carthage Rd just east of Carthage. One of the best engine and tractor shows around.

I will second that it is a great show. Scott are you going both days or just one this year? Not sure what day we might go yet.

Cool deal! How would this compare to the Threshers July show?

A lot cooler for one. And way more engines than Denton. Ken has so many that he can't get enough help to have them all running at one time. And that's just the steam engines; we haven't talked about the gas/kerosene tractors...

I think just as good if not better to me not as commercialized. More actual tractors and equipment. One heck of a pedal tractor collection on display and a building setup like a old IH dealership. Also less crafts and food

I am really glad you posted this. I wanted to go last year and couldn't make it. I may head down this time. Thanks @BurnedOutGeek for tagging me in this thread.

If I get down there, I will post in this thread, maybe some of us can meet and say hello.

* edit * I'm heading down Saturday.

If I don't have to work, I will be there on Sat. I have been going for lots of years and really enjoy it. My wife has always wanted to ride in the Stanly Steamer,
but he is always full up.
Old fashion day is at Morrow Mountain on Sunday. I always display there. I plan on taking a lot of my old chainsaws this year. If yall make it, look me up.
I will be helping at the gold panning demo most of the day, teaching kids how to pan.

It will more than likely be Sunday for me but still working it out.

I had no idea this existed until just now, Man I want to go see something like this.

Hopefully like not going to hell to see a tractor show, plus Carthage is in the flat land (calves won't burn for a week).
No doubt! I've been to 5 or 6 of the Denton shows over the years and don't remember it ever being under 90!

A good portion of these rare tractors is inside buildings so there is atleast shade.

I want to check out the pik n pig bbq place as well while down there as I have heard its a pretty cool stop.

I went today, took my dad with me. He has personal experience with agricultural equipment, and we like to check out old hardware and see how it works.

It was a lot of fun. I was impressed by the abundance of machines, especially steam! There is stuff across the street too that we almost missed. There is a shed full of steam iron over there, and very solid iron at that. They were also milling wood.

Unfortunately honey due list one out for me today and didn't make it this year. Enjoy

Those know how to put a good edge on a saw and axe or atleast they did last year. Be sure you check out both sides of the rd!

Sneaky, I probably wasn’t more than 50’ away from you when you took that last photo. That was Ken Eder himself operating that big loader.

Was that you with all the chainsaws there under that shed? I posted a couple times yesterday hoping I would get to meet some of you guys. Hate I didn't get to.

Nope, I was just a spectator at the show yesterday. When you took that photo I would have been standing about 50' away at your 9 oclock position. Here is a pix that I snapped about 30 seconds before you took yours. Big Loader 11_5_17C.jpg

The golf carts in your photo are partially in front of the silver GMC in my photo. To the right of the silver GMC was that long rail car that can be seen at the far left in your photo (the end of the rail car is behind the guy taking the photo with the camera phone).

Stalker. I thought @Chdamn was my only stalker. My ego is really puffed up now. :)

Hate we didn't get to meet.... Another day tho.

Is the lumberjack comp a regular event? I only find tractors and engines mildly interesting, but add that in and I might try to make it next year. Kid would probably like the show anyway.

They did two shows a day I think. And there were several competitions during every show. They knew how to keep it rolling. You can see the schedule on the website.

There was also a different session on lumberjacks that I missed. I know they gave several little kids chairs that they apparently had sawed during the exhibition.

They also had several kid friendly things... CAT had a bunch of earth moving equipment in a back field moving dirt around with pans and huge dozers.
