If you've been paying attention to the world events at all the past few days, it seems like those who wish to do mass harm are really stepping up their game as we get closer to Christmas.

If you can carry, make sure you're carrying. If you've got a tourniquet, keep it handy too.

This leads to other questions. Does the events change what you carry? Will you leave the pocket gun home for the full size? Will you carry more then 1 extra mag?

I made the decision after Charlie Hebdo to rock the G19 and spare mag more often. I'd like to tell you it's with me all the time, but the pocket gun still slides into the pocket from time to time.

Very true, funny thing most people see stuff like that happen on the news/media and think that'll never happen to me. Thing is the people that this happened to probably thought the exact same thing. I've carried for a good bit and will continue to,it's funny how many people you can see lately who are starting to carry open and concealed, either way I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Jog my memory... NC carry in church? I carry everywhere.

I personally believe that is one of the most dangerous mindsets folks can possess.

I'm not aware of anything prohibiting that in NC, but you may want to skim the statute. NCGS 14-269? I think that's it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do a quick check... I hate traveling light.

Situational awareness, what do you do?

I worry about my wife. She has had some situations and handled them well. However; when she is with me, all I see is her not paying enough attention. I do suspect it's because she is with me. We discuss it often though. On her grocery day I always tell her "cover your six", "head on a swivel" and I make her call or email me when she is home safe.

I carry a G30 90% of the time. I don't have a spare mag on me but have one in the car.

Funny, I was thinking about posting something like this today.

Also, help those that show interest in protecting themselves to become responsible CCW holders.

If it makes you feel better, but, I really can't imagine a scenario where there's an active shooter and I've got time to get to the car, get the rifle, and get back to engage the shooter before the police arrive and shoot me because I've got the rifle. MAYBE if it went down while you were at the truck, I guess.

I think it depends on the individual church. Some are encouraging it.

I never walk out of the house without something that goes "pew, pew". I have two more in my truck along with plenty of ammo and I always have a well stocked medical kit in my truck with tourniquets and quickclot.

If y'all leave home accidentally without your firearm, do you go back?

I did once. I forgot to slide my gun in my pocket. I was halfway to work when I realized it. I just used the one in the console that day. I try to follow the rule, Carry Every Day, Carry Every Step.

I ditched the j frame and compact autos a while back. I don't really like shooting them anyway. Picked up some Berettas to fill my carry and home defense roles. I carry a 92 centurion iwb and a spare mag. I think having 37 rounds on hand makes me more comfortable.

I keep a longer 'pistol' in the vehicle wherever I go, a 10" barrel Yugo M92 AK-variant with at least 3 magazines. It isn't about going to my car to get the gun and then getting in the fight. Instead it is there in case something happened and I had to fight my way back home. I know it's a highly unlikely scenario but that's what I do and why I do it. I sincerely hope it never has to be utilized that way, but if I ever do need more firepower in my ride I am a bit more comfortable knowing it's there.

Other than that, I've carried a G23 and an extra 22rd. mag nearly everyday for 5+ years.

I made the decision a while back that 7+1 didn't feel like enough so now its the 15+1 & spare mag for the Sig P320c the I daily carry when I'm not in the gun free zone of my work!

I'll be carrying to Christmas services this weekend.

i all of a sudden find myself with either a compact (XD-s) or full size 1911 as my CCW options. I need to pick up a mid-sized option ASAP.

Palmetto has that deal with a G19 and 20 PMAGs for a good price.

I've owned a couple G19s and just couldn't like them. I'll pick up an XD(m).

I now keep a spare in the safe in the truck, so I always have one. Otherwise, yes I would go back.

I am in my castle right now, reading this and watching Christmas movies...and my G19 is on my side.

For those with AR or AK pistols in your vehicle, where/how do you keep em?

Me too, Glock has been on my hip since 7am as I was out amongst the populace and now that I relax at home in my comfy leather recliner the G23 is still there. I did pull the extra mag out of my pocket, but it's still close.

The AK pistol rides in a non-descript heavy canvas bag(used to hold now antiquated electronics) somewhere in the passenger area. There is a 20rd. mag in the gun and a full 3-cell mag pouch in the bag with the gun.

i always have my Glock 30 with extra mag and my NAA 22 mag,I always just say you wanna be shot with it,lol

A 22rd mag? Or a G22 mag for your G23?

I carry a 1911 Officers model with 2 spare mags & a 938 with 2 spare mags on me all time. I just counted the mags in my purse & there's 15 1911 mags. The go bag in my vehicle has 2 AR's a pistol & a carbine w/20 20 rounders & 10 30's. There's always a spare 1911 in my vehicle & i just added a CZ w/ 6 18 rd mags. That's for around local if I'm traveling i add more mags & an AK w/20 mags just in case. I have cut back on mags lately. And my vest has a few when i travel. I need to add my Hi Standard Pump & a bandoleer of 12 ga shells for travel. The Ferguson Rig works well in cold weather for stealth.

I moved away from "pocket pistols" a year or so ago and now daily carry my G19. I always keep a spare magazine in the car. I generally don't keep a rifle on me.

I never leave the house without a full size FNX and two additional mags. One with +P heavy hard ball and the other self defense rounds. 30 rounds of chance.
