Does anyone have any information on the Riley RAK-74 and are they a good gun or have any issues with the gun? I don't have any experience with the Riley AK's but I have plenty of experience with zastava, Norinco, arsenal, etc and I was going to get another 5.45x39 after not having one for years and I have someone who is wanting to trade me a rak-74 for my Zastava N-PAP underfolder AK-47 and I was wondering if I should do the trade or pass and why should I from your opinion? I'm interested in response from people who have had the Riley AK's and have experience with them either good or bad and what it was. Thanks and I appreciate your feedback.

No way I'd make that trade.
What is your opinion on the Riley RAK-74 or other Riley AK's? I'm trying to get some solid information on them because the reviews online go both ways like half love them and half hate them.

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t trade, the N-Pap is proven and the other is still eh….do what you want, and enjoy whatever you get and let us know if it’s a good or bad decision.

I have the m-70 zastava and it’s a tank… and a PSA g3 ak that is lighter and both go bang, never had or shot a Riley… never even held one so I can’t help with a range report. But someone else has one and will chime in with their experience.

I'm in the same place as you are with no experience with the Riley AK's but love the zastava and I have never had a problem with any of them from my zpap85, zpap92, m70, N-PAP underfolder or any other of my Yugo AK-47s or my Norinco mac90 or arsenal but I have been hearing as many bad things about the Riley AK's as I have heard good things about them. But you don't hear anything bad about the zastava and wasr10 and other AK's like them and if you do it's like one out of a thousand not one of every two being bad. The main problem I have been hearing is they're very loose and rattle especially with the metal mags and the rivet's are not tight or straight and the bolt carrier is bad about digging into the receiver because they are not lined up properly dearing the machining or assembly process or atleast from what I have just read in the past hour or so from a reddit review of the gun that I found online.

A hard pass on that trade. I can't speak from personal experience, but as one of the biggest AK fans on this site I have zero interest in a new Riley gun, let alone a secondhand one. I think they primarily appeal to uninformed shooters who want the ability to brag to their buddies that they have an AK. Bonus to them that it's made in America, so it's instantly better than those turd commie guns from Russia, amiright?

If you're hell-bent on an American AK-74, take a look at PSA. They kinda crapped the bed on the first couple iterations (as they do out of the gate with basically every one of their gun models), but PSA does improve with its stuff over time. The latest 74 series seems to be getting far better reviews. My PSAK-74 side folder has been flawless through about 1,200 rounds (I know, not a lot of rounds, but no weird wear or other issues that would have probably cropped up by now). Palmetto's warranty also seems way better than Riley.

I'm definitely not a American made AK guy and on AK's I prefer European all the way. I just haven't had any experience with the Riley AK's and atleast wanted to get some information on them but from what I have been told and researched I'm going to pass on the trade because I don't want to take a chance and my zastava N-PAP underfolder AK-47 is flawless and every Yugo AK-47, Bulgarian, Russian, Romanian, and Chinese Norinco Mak90 I've had a some I still have run anything I put in them and flawless too. I was just thinking about getting another AK-74 since I haven't had one in years and saw the RAK-74 and was curious about it. But I have heard good things about PSA and their AK's are alot better than they used to be so I might check them out and keep my zastava N-PAP underfolder AK-47 and customize it alittle bit. I'm needing to get a piccatinny railed dust cover for the zastava N-PAP AK-47 but I don't know if the PSA dust cover will fit it or not and TWS dog leg dust cover is more than I can afford at the moment because I just bought a Midwest Industries MI AK M-Lok handguard for the zastava because they said it would fit which it doesn't fit a Yugo AK-47 and they won't return it without a restock fee of 25% and I paid $190+ for it after taxes and not including shipping cost so I'm stuck with it until I can find someone who wants it and can trade me another handguard that will fit for it or a piccatinny railed dust cover for my AK-47 or they want to buy it from me for a good deal.
