We held this “new shooter clinic” the day after Christmas last year and it was well received, so here we go again.

Location is the Greenville (SC) Gun Club on Monday, December 26, 2022. Sign-in from 8:30 to 9:30. We will have an informational session indoors. Weather permitting we will do a little shooting.

Details on the website www.greenvillegunfighters.com

We are getting lots of interest through Facebook and word of mouth. Should be a good event.

I have asked that people let me know if they plan to attend. We will provide refreshments and perhaps some handout materials and wanted to make sure we have enough while avoiding waste.

You can message me or send an email to the contact address on the website.

At most $15, which would be per family. We want to encourage participation by couples and families and $15 (per person) is what we charge for monthly match entry fees. We will have coffee and other refreshments, and some handout materials.

If the weather or range conditions are poor this will be an indoor informational event. We will have cowboy guns and gear to check out and perhaps a video.

If the weather is good we will retire to the shooting bays to show what we do and to give guests an opportunity to ring some steel. We will have plenty of guns. We will have ammunition available for purchase or you can bring your own “compliant” ammo.

It’s fortunate that we are holding this event indoors. With coffee. Lots of hot coffee.

We are getting RSVPs but we have room for more folks.

Do you need 2 pistols on a double western belt to compete in the cowboy shoots?
We use two revolvers, pistol caliber rifle and a shotgun on each stage of a match. The rules require two holsters.

Most new shooters don’t have all of the gear. We don’t want people to stay home “until they have everything”. Come out with what you have, even if it’s nothing. We share and lend so that people can participate.

Next Greenville match is this Sunday January 22, 2023.

One of the earliest shoots that I attended as a greenhorn [I’m old now, with SASS #11754] was with a fine club in Tyler, Tx. I was vacationing in Ft Worth and called ahead and let them know that I would love to shoot with them but only had one revolver but had everything else. They said come on out. I was loaned a nice Colt SAA and ammo by a club member to shoot along with my Ruger. On another later vacation out there I shot with a great club in Glen Rose, Tx, met Gunzilla too, cool guy. SASS/CAS people are the best because we play this game purely for the fun. Maybe I’ll get down to Greenville, SC this year. I’m in eastern NC and shoot at ECSASS near Manteo, NC. We also are a WASA club and shoot BAMM and WB shoots alongside our cas shooters. No shooter left behind.

Uh, oh. You said “Wild Bunch”, which I love to shoot, and then you said “BAMM”. I’d love to shoot a BAMM match!

They are alot of fun to shoot. You need to come up and play. I’ve shot my ‘03s, Krags and a Swede. Everyone shoots the same sg targets but boltgun targets will be farther out [sometimes] and WB 1911 targets [15-20 rds/ stage] get shot more than cas shooters [10 rds] pistol targets. The order for the first 10 is the same for everyone. Sometimes we mix it up and use 1911s and boltguns. But being a progressive SASS/WASA club DA, SA or selfloaders are legit at any match. I’ve shot my 9mm Astra several times. My personal choice is a 1911 and a Smith .45 HE or New Service but I have shot a nickel 1911 and a ss Ruger Vaquero.
