Iron sight test

Good luck and kudos for trying EIC pistol!

I too have dipped my toes on the water and it’s very humbling. Having earned my rifle EIC badge, it’s quite a transition to pistol.

My first match I jumped into the deep end and shot the nationals @ Perry. I still laugh at my comical performance!

Well a long hot day but made some progress on iron sight shooting.
High scores 90 slow fire, 97 timed(.45) and 90 rapid (.45)
Low hold rapid with the .22 needs some work.
Amazed I can do that well after so many years with a dot.
Even had a 14 shot alibi scored 90 with the 1911.

Great shooting!

Irons get a bad rap for “difficulty,” but they’re sure as heck more comforting to look at versus a dot—far less visual wobble!

Do you use an aperture or anything as a visual aid?

CMP Eastern Games are in Butner, and the NC Shooting Sports Games and State Championships are held in the summer and fall in Haw River.

There never seems to be any serious competition in the triad or points West

You are correct. I miss a lot about living in Winston, but if you don’t want to shoot USPSA, High Power, or Cartridge Rifle falling plate matches, you have to drive a ways.

Well - shot rimfire and service pistol EIC and didn’t win points but shot eligible scores in both and finished top 1/3 of all .22 and top 1/2 of all CF shooters including already distinguished - AMU* and Camp Perry champions were on the line.

4-5 points away from top leg point winner in both.

Just gotta keep traveling to leg matches.

*I scored AMU top shooter - 295-15x out of 300 rimfire. Next day in .45 he shot a 10x possible target. Quite humbling.
