I don't shoot pistols much any longer and wonder if the Glocks a still popular or has other stuff left them in the dust? I know there is a ton of new accessories and I see people have got some awesome looking rigs. Just don't see much about the Glocks anymore. Just curious.

I own several in 9mm, .40 and .45, they are all police trades, I shoot them regularly. PSA has their Dagger, a Glock clone.

Glock's are still very popular, and no one has left them in the dust. They are still the standard to what others compare to. And they still have more accessories, affordable mags, sights, etc. than any anybody else. Glock's will always be my go to.

The G17 itself is an odd duck at this point. Gamers go G34, it's easier to carry a G19 and if you want a 'home defense' gun a G34 with a light is just as appropriate as a G17 but the light won't stick past the muzzle (for many lights) so you won't end up dusting the lense of your light when practicing.

LEs seem to go G17 with a light and there are a lot of holster options there, but otherwise I think there are many better choices in the Glock lineup to pick the G17.

I would actually prefer my light to be past the muzzle on any self defense gun. There’s a good chance you could end up in a scuffle with someone and that light will prevent your slide from coming out of battery if you have to drive it into someone and fire.

Yes, Glock is still the standard by which all other pistols are compared. Does that mean Glock is the "best" in every category? Absolutely not. But they're still incredibly relevant and good pistols.

The G17 in particular is definitely still a great pistol, even if it's been eclipsed in popularity by the G45 and G19.

The Glocks are not the standard that guns are to be judged by. You either like them or you don't. I personally, like many other people just can't shoot them. . I've tried adjusting my grip ,finger position on trigger but I just can't shoot a damn clock accurately most of the time I'm shooting low and left but I can take a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 using same grip, same trigger finger, same position on the trigger and hit the target every time. Same for Sigs. The good thing about the Glocks is that they work in any
environment If you can shoot them the go for it. I personally have spent hours of range time , dry fire and live fire and it has not helped. Just can't shoot them the way I shoot other semi sutos

Glocks are like the Timex or Xerox of the gun world. They may not always have the latest, greatest features, but they keep on ticking and have established a standard that others measure by, good or bad.

They're fine. Very reliable, accurate, easy to use, and maintain. As are many other modern semi autos. Glocks really shine in the parts availability and aftermarket options.
They're not real popular outside GSSF for competition, but there is still always a few.

Glocks are great. They are very reliable, shoot fairly accurately, and tend to be low weight yet lighter recoiling for thier class. I've shot several of the newer models. There's a reason they are still popular.

I don't have any because I prefer DA/SA handguns or revolvers.

I have 3 different carry weapons. A Glock (19, not 17), a Sig 228 and a Canik. I just grab whichever one jumps out at me in my chest of drawers when selecting one.

For me it doesn’t get much better than a plain Jane 17. It alternates with the P30 and 92 for carry. in the summer the G17 is all I carry because I dont care how much sweat gets on it. Tremendous pistol. I’ve no use for a 34 or 19. YMMV. Get a G17.5. Life will then be complete.

I agree, I love my M&P’s better than my Glocks..

I'm still a big fan of the 17 and have a few scattered for HD and in my go bags.

Only thing I replace are the sights. I have recoil spring assemblies and spring kits should they need changing. As others have said, reliability, easy to maintain, cost of magazines etc make the Glock very relevant imo.

My carry pieces are a 19 and a 43x, so I like having the exact same redundant operation. The G45 sneaks in rotation often too.

I have others brands that could fill these rolls if needed, but the Glock is my go to.

Been carrying a Glock 17 for over three years now pretty consistently unless dress requirements force me to a G43 or revolver. The Glock 17 just simply fits my big hand well and I shoot it pretty good in my opinion.

Carrys well in a @chiefjason leather OWB holster.

Decent? Yeah totally! Amazing? No. They work. And uh... they go bang when you pull the trigger! But they're nothing to write home about. I'd say other, more modern guns are cooler/better/smoother/more accurate/faster/etc, but Glock is always a safe bet. It may not be amazing at any category, but it's not bad in any category either. Glocks are the decent quality vanilla ice cream of the polymer-framed striker-fired pistol world. They're not exotic, but they do the job.

Love Glock, but sold the G17, other 9’s are “better “ but it’s my opinion….now in the 10mm world, Glock is the master and overlord!!!! The G29 is a compact gem, G20 is the standard to which all 10mm will be judged and the the G40, a 6 inch MOS red dot sighted beast!!!!

I didn’t realize how long it had been since I took my 19 out. Thanks to your post, I got it out today, and I can tell you that there is something about shooting a Glock that never get tired of.

Kinda like an AK in that respect.
