Walking through area 52 today and saw an older gen glock. Pretty beat up. Looks like it had rust on on the slide and standard sights. Are these things collectible now? Makes me wish i never sold my gen 2 17.

Dont know about that one, or what makes a Glock 'collectible' in general, but we had a member here sell a Gen 1 on Gunbroker for 6k+ a few years back.
So, yeah, I guess they can be pricey...

My Gen 2 was apparently an early / transition model as I found when fitting. MacTec carbine upper to it. Unconventional combo of frame features, had to trim a bit where a Gen 2 should have been drop in.

Was it used in "Die Hard"?
"That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines here and it costs more than what you make in a month!" ―John McClane on the Glock 7.

I don't think I'd pay 2000 even if it was an autographed hanz gruber Christmas special.
Actually, it’s almost impossible to find any example of Hans Gruber’s gun for $2000, even without his autograph. 😉

I remember a guy bringing one into the shop and everybody was oooing and ahhhing and he just said it's ok if you don't mind this and he showed us. All i thought back then was why the grip safety? And in the front? Now their worth a good bit🤷‍♂️

I've heard if you squeeze off a few rounds you cook your top fingers as the guts heat up there.

H&K guys. Need I say more?

Gen 1 G17s were going for ~$800 a few years ago. They are relatively common and I wouldn't buy one personally. Now, a Gen 1 G19 is worth several thousand dollars. The pictured gun is a G17 and worth maybe a quarter of the asking price.

I lived in NJ when this happened - HKs aren't magical. Spring broke as I recall.

Gun History: The Heckler & Koch P7 Pistol and the N.J. State Police

How a state police department adopted one of the most expensive production semi-autos of its time, and what happened to the thousands of retired pistols when they switched in the early 2000s.

So, as of 1983, all NJSP troopers began carrying P7 pistols in holsters that were specially made for them, inscribed with the NJSP logo, with D-rings included.
Although I’ve never had the chance to shoot one myself, from what I can tell, the P7s were solid duty pistols, the troopers liked them, and they continued using them until sometime around 2000 when they were literally wearing out—and after a tragic incident in 1997 brought the reliability of the aging pistols into question.
Trooper Scott Gonzales’ pistol jammed during a gunfight with a mental patient. He was killed while attempting to clear his pistol.
