My brother in law found this thing somewhere, and said it’s a “mold for an AR”. The shape doesn’t remind me of anything on an AR... Any idea what this is?

Yep. You put the upper in there and then you can clamp it in a vice to hold it without damaging the upper when you work on it.

yeah and I have been putting it off. I shouldve invested in these tools a long time ago, before deciding I wanted to build an SPR upper
