I ran across this video on how to free up the SLR series of adjustable gas blocks if they are locked up, I have 3 that are shooting fine but locked up like a vault, I’ll be trying my hand at freeing them up now.

Mine hasn’t locked up yet, but it’s fairly new. Less than 1k rounds on it. I bought my gas block because my Larue 12.5” upper was over gassed. I set the GB where it works both suppressed and I suppressed and don’t adjust to shoot, but occasionally I spray some clp or whatever is handy down inside the rail and cover the adjustment screw and as much of the gas block as I can and turn the screw 5 clicks in 10 clicks out 5 clicks in.

Bums me out to see that the SLR gas blocks are this problematic. I have one on my 18" ar that see's the least amount of use of all my ar's. Then again I set it 1 time to run with the supressor and with out and have not tinkered with it since it was initially set. The erosion on the adjuster is disheartening.

It’s a very well designed and executed AGB. Havent seen a poorly made SLR product yet. However with flaming hot gas and carbon forcing it’s way through the gas block and adjuster, its going to get seized at some point. My solution was to always rotate a few clicks in each direction after leaving the range. It seems to help break off the carbon and prevent seizing but probably not a guaranteed prevention.

nowadays if I want a suppressed gas block I’d just use the YHM one that’s downsized for better suppressed function.

I agree they are well made products, and SLR is a great company with great customer service. But, IME, they freeze easily and quickly. I am mostly a "set it and forget it" user, but sometimes you make changes and need to adjust it. I've used four of them so far, and my next one will be something else. Just can't get into the habit of constantly adjusting them to keep them moving.
Just going to try a different design like the Superlative, Aero, or another.

I had an early production SLR block that eventually got stuck as I had not adjusted it after initial setting. I emailed after-hours about how I could take it apart to fix it, and the owner asked me to give him a call that same evening. We spoke and he said a rebuilt kit would be in the mail for me the next day. A few days later I received not only the rebuild kit, but also a complete new adj. block at no cost. In the many years since then, I often think about how he went above and beyond when I run into issues with other company products. As a result of his CS, and also quality of the products, I now have six or so SLR adj. blocks and all have given me no issues. I did make it habit though to adjust them up and down quickly after a range trip to try and prevent buildup/freezing again.
