I've been told everyone likes snake pictures

No, I meant they like to see painful death for snakes, and I knew that was what this one was gonna get!

We have a thread full of them, busted one's head off with a shovel after lunch today.

Had a buddy evening hiking at Hanging Rock last week, stepped on one in the trail. Took a dry bite to the hiking sandal! Lucky guy wearing sandals and lucky enough the snake just gave him a poke to let him know. I saw him a couple days later and he was still visibly shook about it. I imagine the sandals have now been replaced with boots.

Great pic.

I fixed this for you.

Nope. I'll point a gun at persons I think are a danger to me, but I just can't equate snakes with harm. I know it's a bit daft since every other one here is dripping with venom, but I can't bring myself to hurt them until they actually attack me.

My father killed a 42" copperhead one day that made the mistake of crossing the gravel driveway. He had two boys that liked to play in the woods. Enough reason for me.

Ems pisonous snakes.

Saw a couple while out rock climbing yesterday, just hanging out on the rocks enjoying the sun. Only time I got nervous was when I "saw" one in a crack my son was reaching for, about 75' above me, but turned out that was some sort of lizard.

Las week the wife dispatched an 8-10’ black snake because we found it in the coop eating eggs. Normally we leave hem alone but in the coop is a no go

I caught one in Grandma's coop.
I took him out in the woods and let him go.

Then I got my magnum sharpie and wrote on the wall; no snakes allowed.
He ain't been back.

Get a no snakes allowed sign.

And your are right Lyme disease is a good reason to let them live. They eat the mice and rats that carry it and the ticks on them that spread it.

That being said I have a 2 yo and if the snake is on my property I'll kill it just because I don't want her to step on it or be too curious.

And I can't fault that. I'm just odd. I carry bugs outside to safety when cleaning at work but give short shrift to humans.

I have a set of 1911 grips with that skin on them.
Where'd you get those? I've been itching to get a set - either have someone make some or from a reputable vendor.

Cute noodle. I'm the sort of shoo him off with a broom.

I'm the type to shoo them off with a shotgun.
I leave them alone in the woods, that's their house; but if they come to my house, they gotta go...right now. I have no truck with the poisonheads since I've got children. I've also had to doctor up two dogs that met copperheads and won, but at a price.
The good ones I leave alone, unless the wife sees them first. If she declares "death" (which is 100 percent of the time), I carry out the order in my own best interest.

Geezer had them list sometime ago and I liked them, I still need to build out the 1911 I got them for.

Any man who wears sandals deserves to be snake bit.

NO NO NO!!! No snakes!! Dang you @NKD !!
I despise them but I just HAD to look anyway.
And now I've got that dang creepy feeling I get whenever I see one.
Sheesh.

Why do I despise them?
When I was a kid, a Copperhead killed my dog, in our yard.
When I was a kid, a Black racer chased me, for no apparent reason. From the street across the yard right to the porch steps. That was the last straw.
I try to get along with black snakes and green snakes but anything else?...I see snake, I kill snake, period.
