Does anyone have direct experience with this weapon? I'm trying to fill the void of not having a short barrel 7.62x39. I decided against the KS47 due to reliability concerns, and am now trying to decide between the following:

Galil Ace G1, 8.5"
ZPAP M92
Draco
WBP Mini Jack

Obviously the issue comes down to cost effectiveness. All of them check the quality/reliability box. Parts are easier to come by for some (Draco) as opposed to others (Galil) - Jack/M92 kind of in the middle there.

My free cash would either go completely to the Galil Ace, or I could split the difference on the others and wind up with that and the BCM BFH 11.5" upper I've been eyeballing.

Essentially what I'm asking is if the Galil Ace is a $2k gun or not. I'm not sure how the value will be going forward; AK's OTOH seem to keep going up.

This is the one I've been eyeballing. Owner said $2k for everything but the optic/light. From what I can tell, it's a good value considering the brace, handguard and tritium on it.

They dont make the Gen 1 models anymore....and that one looks well equipped. Less you need to "add".

I love my .308 ACE, and regret not getting a Gen 1 in 7.62x39 when I had the chance. It is also well equipped ( minus the bolt handle anyway...) for a lefty.

That said, if the Draco is a Romanian and you slap a CNC brace on it, you cant go wrong. Alot of compatibility with AKM parts, and excellent performance.

PAP92s are nice but heavy. Maybe even heavier then the ACE? Current ones have chrome lining and such which is nice.

Dont have an opinion on the Jack.

Between the three? Either the ACE or the Draco. Cant go wrong.

I was in this same boat and picked up a M92 sized AK. I could bring myself to spend 2.5x the price. I installed an ALG trigger and an optic. Haven’t looked back - We made 200 yard hits on steel easily at a rifle match. I’ll end up with another my daughter has claimed it as “hers”

This guy asked $1150

That doesnt look like a horrible deal, the CNC brace is certainly nice to have done already...and I admit I am a sucker for those graters ( but think they look better with wood). Looks like a US palm type grip? ( I never liked those, myself....)

Seems to come with the optic too?

Yep, and the ALG trigger and KNS piston. I don't like that the optic doesn't cowitness, so I'd prob put an Ultimak on for light/optic...but that gun alone is about $900 now without any of that stuff

You guys talked me into it. Just told Mr. Zpap I'd take it.

Can't justify $2k on the Galil as much as I want it.

Also, that KNS piston was a huge + for me. As BA as the Galil is, I do know they're just as over-gassed as an AK. I'd rather have the 5.45 which ain't happening for $2k.

I’ve got a similar setup…didn’t cost me 2K back in the day, but after the brace change, polymer delete kit (which the one you posted has as well) and the Midwest hand guard change, it bumped the $ up. Looks like the one above has an A3 Tactical folder with Tailhook brace (north of $250, if you can even find that combo in stock). I hated the stock Galil brace and hand guard! I’ve not had any issues with mine. I also installed at KNS piston, which helped with the gas.

Nice, I bet that will serve you well....

Truth be told Ive looked at one of those aswell. I had an older model ( no bulged trunnion, .09 mm receiver walls, non chrome barrel...) and it had some issues I didnt like ( namely the trigger pin holes were oblong, some how.) And traded it off to someone after pointing out my issues with it.

Only reason I havent gotten a newer one is because I love my Draco, and keep telling myself I dont need two about the same size... the same reason I turned down a SAM7 pistol for less then 1k a few years ago 😑

Still kick myself for that one 😆

Perhaps I'll find one and not be able to stop myself any longer...

It's a beautiful gun. Wish I could afford to dump cash into one. Hopefully the M92 satiates my desire for a small 7.62x39. We shall see. I think even if it didn't I could easily get my full value back.

I'm going to have to find the best way to add a sling to the right side. On my WASR I have a QD on the stock and a BFG wire loop wrapped through the MLOK handguard. I'm thinking some Paracord loop on the brace with a clash hook and maybe drill a couple holes in the wood handguard and run Paracord through that. I have a spare TDI Arms MLOK but it's for an AKM. Wish I could find someone to trade.

Maybe the next economic collapse I can pickup the Galil when everyone is unloading their toys.

The CMMG Banshee is a good option too, and doesn’t have the reliability issues the KS47 is plagued with. Although I have had zero issues with the new enhanced bolt and I got one of the extractors you linked awhile back to keep as a spare.
