I just bought a new 1025R and a bunch of attachments it arrived this weekend. I don't have a barn for it yet. Was wondering if anyone had any tips on making it harder for someone to ride off with it. Not that I expect that that will happen, but I am wondering if there is a simple way to make it a bit harder to steal. Also, if anyone has one of these compact tractors do you have any advice/tips? So far I have put on some side mirrors, a steering wheel handle thingie (awesome btw), and a seat cover. I was out trying to pull up tree stumps with a mini stump bucket yesterday and some tilling. It's all new to me and so far is fun. They are very maneuverable.

Park it facing into a big tree and park a vehicle close behind it, should prevent someone from being able to steal it. Chains and padlocks might slow someone down, but can be defeated. Leave the bucket down and an implement attached and on the ground, so it can't roll. And park it out of sight.

Years ago, theives stole my dad's 4 wheeler by rolling it out of his carport and pushing it across my sister's yard next door where they loaded it.

I love my 1025R, but if somebody wants to steal it bad enough it would be fairly easy to walk away with. Just make sure you have full coverage insurance.

I have full coverage. I called State Farm Saturday to confirm. I was thinking of a shut-off valve/kill switch somewhere. Ill look for the fuel shut of valve Lee Majors.
I thought the same thing about a tree and a vehicle bearmernc. It seemed like a way to lock it in at night.

If it has electronic injectors unplug the injector harness and or the seat switch

That is a clever idea, unplug the seat switch. If it is easy to get to. I know I can't make it impossible, but I'm just thinking of making it hard for the idiots. I had a Cub Cadet riding mower stolen from my front yard one time. The morons didn't know how to disable the transmission, so they dragged that 500lb behemoth across the yard with the wheels locked up. Must have been some strong dudes or they drug it with a vehicle. The sheriff said they probably sold it for scrap metal.

I have a 1025R and it has been pretty handy on my little farm here. I don't have any advice on theft protection but do have some suggestions:
- get a set of clamp on forks, you'll be surprised how handy they are even if lift weight is limited.
- be careful on side slopes, they can be a bit tippy.
- get the service manual, I have it on a thumb drive and it is around 27mb.
- put one or two bolt on grab hooks on the top of the bucket, makes pulling or lifting with chain a lot easier.
- buy a can of JD Green spray paint for touching up scratches and preventing rust

You can't. If they want it bad enough, short of being on it 24x7, nothing can be done. All you can do is slow them down.

Pull the seat safety.
Battery switch with lock or removable handle.
Some alarm that can't be seen easily.

I am going to buy weights. Right now I'm using the tiller as ballast for the stump bucket. It came with beet juice in the tires. I bought an add-on for the iMatch to add suitcase weights. I need to buy some suitcase weights if anyone has some for sale....
I haven't thought of front weights but that is a thought. I have also thought about adding a wheel spacer from Boro or adding another set of rear wheels.

As others said unplug seat safety switch or put a seperate switch in that circuit that only you know where it is. By breaking that circuit its like a fuel shut off and wont run.
