Not just Jury Duty, Federal Jury Duty. Got the summons today. I report to the Federal Courthouse in Florence on January 11, 2018. Happy New Year to me.

We beat and brawl with each other here, but I can think of no better potential juror pool than this motley crew at CFF.

If the prosecution proves it's case, somebody's going to hang. If there exists a reasonable doubt, they walk.

Just the way it was intended.

Problem is, most of us are taxpayers rather than taxgetters and can't afford to piss away the time.

Shave your head and put one of those fake tattoos of a swastika in your forehead. Tell them it was all a joke and you're back.

Just wear a new t shirt like this one

Have fun.
I've only gotten county/city level summons. Sat on two cases over the last 20+ years. The first case was in Boston. That when I saw first hand that the police will, if necessary, lie on the stand to get a conviction. And the DA will prosecute to help prevent an excessive force law suit.
In that case the physical evidence corroborated defense testimony backed up the defense, not the police testimony. By the ADA tried to make it seem otherwise.
Got bounced from a jury in a civil case by defense attorney. :D

I finished the third of four appearances last monday for Grand Jury duty. One more and I'm jury-duty exempt for 7 years.
It's actually kinda interesting. Way better than everyday Perry Mason jury duty.
Plus, I'm in the upper tax bracket of fancy jury people. We get $20 a day. Never mind that I'm in the absolutely most far-away-from-the-Courthouse location that's possible. Takes an hour to get there.
Wear your make america great again hat.
That works until you get to the door, and then they make you take it off. The Bailiff did like my Beretta hat though, so you might get a thumbs up but they still make you take it off.

Have you considered wearing a red or blue bandana?

Seriously, though, you are the kind of person I'd want on my jury. Hope you get released, but know you'll do it up right if you get selected.

I really don't mind serving but I won't be upset if I don't serve. It's 60 miles one way but I get mileage of $0.535 per mile and $40 per day (take that @Friday). I would be fair and by that I mean they would have to prove guilt.

I did a 3 week trial earlier this year, sex trafficking, minors involved, it was ugly stuff. But i did my duty, i am actually surprised they kept me based on the defense attorneys line of questions for the jurors.

Got called back in 1989 in Long Island, NY and once in Wake County in 1995.
There was a sign posted in the jury pool room...

"Everyone believes in trial by a jury....until they are asked to serve on one"

A couple of years back I got called for federal jury duty in Wilmington- I let them know it was going to be 90 miles one way and they said don't come...

Forty dollars?
That's just like all things Fed, pay twice as much for the same s**t. :p
Well, ya get what ya pay for. LMAO

The letter said if it was 80 miles or over they would give a hotel/meals allowance of $144. This is for the first night before reporting for jury duty. Not sure what would happen after that.

Got called to federal jury duty a number of years ago. Some one who had served told me it could last for a while under the right circumstances but I got lucky and didn't even have to show up a single day.

Is this Federal Jury Duty or Federal GRAND Jury? If it’s Grand you are pretty much stuck there with about 20some people to hear the Readers Digest version of cases and determine if the should move forward ... not really that bad. If it is just Federal Jury ... act like you really want to get on the jury and one of the attorneys will cut excuse you. If pulled in to be possible sat stare directly at the attorneys switching back and forth especially when they are scanning the potential jurors. Don’t break eye contact if you can ... win the stare down!

I've only been summoned twice, about 10 years apart & both times, I was literally within weeks of deploying. Doubt seriously that if I were summoned nowadays that I'd be selected.

I was on a jury a few weeks ago in Wake. Took 4 days. Was actually sort of interesting. Could have been much longer and MUCH more unpleasant subject matter so no complaints here. There were 4 people from my company on the jury. None of us knew each other or even worked in the same site.

In 30 years, that was probably my 4th or 5th call and I think the second time I was actually on a jury.

Several decades since turning 18 and never once been summoned to jury duty.

I wouldn't mind, and wouldn't try to get out of it. The jury is a cornerstone of our legal system, and one our founding fathers considered exceedingly important.

Just walk in on the first day, drop your pants and take a piss on the floor, problem solved, home before noon....
I don't have to report until Jan 11. That will give me time to practice this maneuver at WalMart a few times.

Same here.

Wife has been called 3 times but because she is the only doctor in her practice they cut her free

take out your willy and pee. Then claim mental illness.

EDIT: nevermind, seen that @Bailey Boat has beaten me to the punch ;)

Besides, if you do this, it's not obscene since there's no kids involved.

NY jury pool, I got cut (YES). 75yr old man was killed making a left turn in his car at light,
family filed lawsuit against painting company that owned the truck that was involved,
the town and county the traffic light was located, the company that maintained the light and
one more lawyer for the Estate of the deceased. They expected this to last 3-4 months.

Other pool was in Raleigh, man paralyzed while checking a tobacco scale, his coworker let
the platform down while the man was underneath it. Learned later when we were cut that
tobacco company offered the man $100K (he was 70yr old) but the family wanted $500K.

I was called once for a civil trial. Homeowner was suing contractor for foundation damage (from ~1/4 mile away, IIRC). Plaintiff asked if I had any preconceived notions, and I said, "I see this kind of spurious lawsuit all the time in my work."

Bounced.

If they ever get around to figuring out what to charge me with, I'm demanding a jury trial. I'd be happy with a pool of 12 from this forum, but I'll have to rely heavily on the calm objectivity of several of y'all versus the sentiments of a few who would gladly see me hanged.

Never done federal time (said in my tough, con voice). My sister-in-law was called for federal jury duty in Greensboro (70 miles), she was the last one excused, turned out the case went like a month long and for the last couple weeks the jury was sequestered.

My fear is ending up on an OJ-type case and not being able to get out of it.
