Greetings, I am J(ay), a family-oriented man fortunate enough to embrace retirement in my late 30s. Presently, I find myself in the process of relocating to a 7 acre property in Horry County, surrounded by ~1800 acres of family-owned farm and timberland. Despite the excitement, navigating the bureaucratic landscape involving DHEC, regulations, and permits has proven to be a PITA, it feels like typical governmental overreach.
This transition marks a departure for me and my family from coastal NC, so Iāll have to shift from offshore fishing to rivers and ponds and trading beach walks for strolls through woods. With a longstanding affinity for the outdoors and collecting guns, I plan to focus more on shooting and hunting.
The primary reasoning behind this move is a holistic self-improvement journey, personal health, improving familial roles as a husband and father, and the most important our spiritual well-being. The seclusion afforded by our new property will hopefully contribute to a better overall lifestyle while we work towards self-sustainability and building a homestead with a prepper mindset.
