Ejected from his F-18 just under the sound barrier and survived, barely. Heck of a story. Pulled 50 G's just from the rocket on the ejection seat, then hit the air and turbulence around the plane. It's almost a miracle anyone survives an ejection.

A guy with whom I work out, his brother was a Navy F-18 (I say 'was' because he teaches at the Naval Academy now and won't go back to the cockpit). He ejected once, and apparently when you do, you get a 'special' bracelet to wear that shows you are part of a special club. I asked my friend what his brother had to say about it, he said (paraphrasing), he won't say anything because it was a traumatic experience.

strapped into a flying cannon, surrounded by bombs and cannon ammo and jetfuel, hurtling towards certain death, and your only way out is to light the rocket under your butt and (hopefully) shoot off into the sky and survive the ride, and then hope to not land too far into hostile enemy territory that you can't get rescued before you're raped and beheaded?
