Kinda sad day for me,, LGS related

Yeah... I'm kinda lost why this is a sad day. This is just like any other day as near as I can tell. I'm sure those guys will find/get/sell you whatever you can legally own if you just ask 'em. You should still support your local guys (hey, this is a site run by local guys!), unless they're total dorks like one store in our area I won't mention. LOL

Its the point that the stuff was never put out for locals to see if they wanted to buy it. Regaurdless of the price. It's like they know they have s item that will bring more on a national scale,, I get that.

WE all preach to support local dealers,,how about the dealers doing the same to local buyers. I gladly pay more to them than I can buy stuff online,,but then they return the favor by bypassing local to make more money.
Thank You All!! We appreciate you! We are here for you first and foremost and always have been. We have sold a VERY small amount online for over 11 years. We typically sell items we only have one of or odd items that may have a much larger calling online. We also sell items we just have too many of on line as well. If the item we have listed online is something we only have one of, we will not display that item because we don’t want to double sell a single item. Typically, anything we have online is less expensive in our store because again we are here for you our local clients first. If you find something that we have online for less than we have it in the store for we will GLADLY honor the lesser of the two prices for you. We also do a lot of consignments for clients on GB. If there is something online you are interested in just let us know we will gladly show you the item. Many stores use GB and other sites to keep the store front up we actually just use it as a liquidation device to keep the clutter out. I am somewhat of a neat freak and everything in our store has a place and there is no place for hundreds of one of items, we just don’t have that much room. The most important thing I want all of you to know is we are, always have been, and always will be here for you FIRST! You have taken care of us and we AIM to take care of you. Thank You!

BTW, I love reading the true stories and I actually remember most of them. Thanks again.

It's hard to pass up that GB money. Huge market, you can usually hedge the price more than you would locally, especially for something out of the ordinary. I always used to check what trade ins were going for on GB, just in case.
our trade in selection is still HUGE in fact we have a used gun sale going on right now tring to reduce used guns by about 1000. Please come on down

they might not have them on the shelves because they're afraid of selling something in store and having someone bid on it before they can cancel it. Similar to BOG's situation if he were to buy it off the shelf and then someone bids on it before the listing is taken down it could put them in a compromising position.

But I get what your saying, I just tried to go buy a shotgun at my LGS. They had other models, but not the one I wanted. No problem, I ask if they can order it. The short answer is yes, but they would charge me 5% to order it in store and if I did it on my own there was no charge. While I appreciate him telling me to do it myself, it's annoying because I wanted to pay cash.
I have heard of that practice before and I dont understand the idea. We have very little online however we will gladly sell you anything off of there without an upcharge for in store purchase. Charge a man more for coming in the store front sounds like a good way to run yourself out of business. The only exception would be the guns we have online that are consignments and requested to go off at auction format.

Bought my first AR15 in that store about 4 years ago, and I live 40 miles southwest of Charlotte. Told the guy I didn't like the ones with that "triangle thing" for a front sight, he pulled down an M&P15T and he sold it to me. I was out there on business. It was a long ride home.
Thank You!

Sovereign Arms always has a ton of stuff on Auction Arms (or Guns America...or both ) as does Perrys in Wendell. Its how a lot of these stores stay open.
You are exactly right many of the slower store fronts do this to stay open. We have a strong storefront and simply use online to liquidate the excess and one of items. We just dont have room to display all of the one quantity items we get in and keep the store neat and organized for you. Thank You

All this thread did for me is it makes me want to goto Fuquay Gun today on my way home from work.

I know right. This thread makes me want to go back too. Of all the dealings with FG&G, I was impressed with the selection and stock they have on hand. I purchased a blue label Glock. I would go to FG&G all the time if it wasn't an hour and half away. Their staff are professional and friendly.

I'm more sad there is only a couple of the old guys left. Jon moved back to the mountains. There are only a couple in there I trust without question anymore. Although I typically know what I want and have never had anyone tell me anything wrong per say.

Man they have taken so much of my money over the years. It's lost a little of its small town charm but overall I still love the place. Clay has never been NOT able to get what I want if they don't already have it.

Tommy is the man. Oh and anyone know the customer that always has a German Shepherd in the back of his truck in the parking lot? Just curious.
The origingal crew was me C (Clay) then sweetpea then Tommy and Rob and now today we have well over 20 to take care of your needs while in our shop; I go through typically over 100 applicants for every hire that we do. We do our best to give you customer service reps that LOVE guns and helping folks.

Maybe talk to Clay and see if he'd sell a gun you find on GB for the same price. Clay seems like a very reasonable guy.
Thank you we try very hard to be fair and accommodating to all.

What bothers me is just this past Saturday I decided I wanted a 556 Norinco. So I found one and bought it Monday. I actually went in their Saturday to look for one,,didn't see it. If I know they would have had it I could have talked to them about it. I wouldn't have bought if the price was 1400 like on gunbroker because the 84s don't bring anywhere near what a 56s brings.I would have been in at 1200.If I have to go on GB to find what Im looking for I defiantly price shopping then.I have never bought or sold anything on GB,,I guess I need to get with the times. In the future I will 110% go there first when Im looking something. specific.
We have thousands of guns not on display because we simply dont have enough room to display them all. We cannot display a gun on our shelf that is online because of the double sell factor. We dont want to sell the same gun to 2 folks, thats not fun for anyone.

I totally understand what you are saying. I have a good friend that works weekends at Sovereign and he tells me about 80-85% of sales come from GB or online sales. I rarely buy anything at a Sovereign, only go there to BS. If I need to buy anything I go to FG&G. Just from observing how Clay has handled different situations over the years, the one word that comes to mind is reasonable. Sounds like you are a great, loyal customer and I'm sure he'd do anything to keep you coming back.
We sell less than 1 percent of our items online, it is a very small piece of our entire business. We are here for locals first.

They keep a running wish list for people. Tell them what you want and they will eventually find it. They called me over 2 years after I told them I was looking for something after they finally found it. I had forgotten I told them to get it.
Thank you for noticing we have called folks 3.5 years after going on the list.

Hers my story about why I made my FG&G my go too store,,,I got heavy into firearms in 2012. Bought my first AK. I wanted some extra mags. I went to Sovereign first . I dint know what time they closed( this was at closing time) as I walked up to the door the guy looked me in the eye, locked the door and just turn away. No biggie, they were closing. I left there and FG&G,People were still in the store so I walked up,,,Seen the time on the door so I turned around and started heading back to my truck. A saleguy opened the door and asked me what I needed,,I told him and he told me too come back in and they would take care of me.That meant the world to me and still does,,,earlier I stated that I had bought 14 guns from them since then,,,just thought about a VP9 and sr9c (I think I bought 2 sr's). That little gesture of letting me in to buy a mag have earned my business of 16 firearms I can remember and countless 20 bucks sales.Damn I love FGG,,,I have bought from Sovereign since but its was because FGG didn't have it when I wanted it.
Awesome, Thank You

This precisely. I haven't been to Sovereign in years. One of the most unfriendly shops I think I have ever stepped foot in. Not once have I ever been asked if I needed help. I don't need pampering but some common courtesy is appreciated. I felt like I was bothering the folks at the register because they had to stop their conversation to ring me up. I won't step foot in there again.

Hell, I've been locked inside FG&G on numerous occasions. They were still working with me after the doors were barred shut. Because of this, I have purchased countless items. I don't even want to count them up. It has to be at least the number Majicmike is at. I am no longer allowed in FG&G without supervision :)
We lock you so you cant leave till we empty your pockets!! Just Kidding. We do our best to take care of everyone that made it in before the closing time.

I have a cient that has been with me for years that drives over 3 hours, one way. Maybe you can carpool with him. Thank You for your Complements

What's the chances of Fuquay Gun helping to sponsor our little forum? You have an awesome person who works for you here. shadowsbane. He can run the sponsor forum with deals.

We all respect shadowsbane and he's one of us. Always extremely helpful on and off the boards. I would love to see this happen. I'm sure others are like the below.

I don't NEED any guns currently but when I see one posted I suddenly WANT a gun I'd never thought about buying. I'm sure if you have a spot here for all of your liquidating handgun's I can guarantee I'll end up buying.

I justify the purchase with it's too good of a deal to pass up.

Wow,, I know who Clay is but I don't ever deal with him for the fact that I know running a business keeps him running. But for him to respond to us on this forum tells me he still cares about us,,, Matter of fact today or tommorow when I go by there I'm giving the first Sales Rep I see a pants down man hug. Anyone know if shadowbane shedule, lol

Still hate having to look on line for the stuff but you can't win them all.

I think I will pass on the Pants down man hug, but still look forward to seeing you ( with your pants up)

I just had a spot open up in the safe. Think I will drop by today and check the trade-in pile. Not really hot and heavy for anything but a 410 or 20 gauge might need to find a home. It is still squirrel season..

Oh. and don't run from the pants down hugs. You will just end up out of breath, but you will still be in Chdamn basement.

I made the mistake of buying a safe that I shouldn't run out of room for a long time. There's always a spot open.

I'd love a 410 or 20 gauge for Mrs Amnesia.

His rational was "us tying up our money vs you tying up your money"

A few hours later I went to another shop by my house, his prices are slightly higher but he ordered it for me, the kid ordering said Monday which was fine by me. The owner said I'll put in s call to get it here Friday. Moving forward that will be my first stop.

Just now I got a text msg from a vendor regarding a gun. My response was why not, I'll take it. See Clay Fuquay Gun told you

I'm number 1 on the wait list at FG&G for the new CZ P10c. I literally have 5 Benjamin's in my wallet burning a whole in it in anticipation.

Love FG&G...even though they keep taking my money against my wife's wishes.

No you're not, but we love you anyway. I feel guilty to go in and fondle the merchandise, and waste the guns sales guy's time by asking him for the 90th time that day "Which trigger do you like better?", so I always buy something. Sometimes it's something I need, but not always.

First pistol I bought after getting my chp was from FG&G. Picked up a range officer from them. Started out at another we'll know shop in Wendell. He had one but was high on it I asked if he would price match or even come closer to it I would buy from him. Hell it was $100 cheaper at fuquay all the guy said was you should go see them they are nice people. So I left and rode to fuquay I bought a range officer my buddy bought a glock 30 and my daddy picked up a glock 31. Top notch service at FG&G. I still stop by if I am in the area it's just so far away from Roxboro.
