Thoughts?
I can't imagine it having a better DA than a 617 but maybe....
@Studentofthegun

I had a GP100 before I bought the 617. Liked the Ruger "okay", but prefer the way the 617 balances and looks due to the full underlug.

I held one in the shop the other day, it did not feel comfortable at all. what a disappointment for such a nice looking colt. The grips were too thin and rode heavily on my middle finger. Maybe some aftermarket ones would work but I’m not going gamble.

If I was in the market for a gun in this category, of All available, I'd buy the Colt. Triggers on the King Colt in DA are wonderful.
I'm sure you know, but it was once news to me, that the rimfire versions of full sized revolvers will never have the equivalent DA pull of the center-fire model. The rimfire ignition system requires a heavy hit for reliability so your limited on mainspring power (in S&W).

My 617 went to mojo customs and came back with an amazing DA pull but it cost $$.

This Mostly applies to the J Frames....I have never had a problem with light triggers on K Frames as long as the hammer Fall is decent. This can usually be taken care of by just changing to a 13 pound trigger return spring and leaving the factory MS. At least that's the procedure here.

I had light strikes on a 17-5 4" and two 617's using reduced power Wolff "power rib" main springs (using the factory tension screw).
The Wolff mainspring has a "rib" down the middle that makes the tension screw not protrude as far.
Solved it by buying a slightly longer screw from the hardware store.
I think the wide variance in rimfire rim thickness also plays a part. Basically, headspace changes with different ammo brands. Makes it tricky to find that sweet spot.

I agree totally on the thin, fingergroove grips. No good for big paws.
I put a pair of VZ grips on my KC and now, it feels great.IMG_0659.jpeg
