My poor old dad would probably roll over in his grave if he knew that I bought a Korea vehicle. He fought in both WW II and Korea. My senior year in high school I bought a 1962 VW Beetle. When I brought it home, dad crawled all over my butt. "Those Germans were trying to kill me and you bought one of their cars!" Now, I bought a Korean vehicle. Sorry, dad.

2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz with 17K miles. I bought it from Carvana and picked it up today. It was the easiest car buying experience I've ever had. This thing sure does have a lot of bells and whistles for an old fart to try to learn.

Pretty much useless as a truck but the first time I seen one in person I liked the look of them. I might can afford one in 20 years when it's wore ass out but they got a cool look to them. The one I see alot around my parts is like a seafoam green color and is sharp as hell

I pulled up to my grandparents house in 1990 in a Honda Accord and parked in the driveway. My grandmother ran out and told me to go ahead and move it to the street to not upset my papa. He was a Marine in the Pacific and never let me live down owning a Japanese vehicle.

Hey, if he didn't do the fighting that half of Korea wouldn't be engaging in capitalism and exporting vehicles.
They'd be eating dirt and worshipping dear leader.

Don’t worry in 20 years, the youth of today will be yelling at their kids for buying AMERICAN!

Bet you wished you still had that ‘62 Bug …

Now back to real world … normally aspirated or turbo?

A neighbor bought one last year after comparing it and a Ridgeline. He said it beat the Ridgeline in his wants except in looks … but he said he don’t see that much of the outside when he drives just the hood. The little UTE does seem to perform better and was over $10k less.

Normally aspirated. I had read that the turbo models had plenty of pep and that the non turbo models were pretty weak. It's all flatlands around here and I don't tow anything. I think this one will have ample power for me.

I had a coworker who used to say, “I’d ride a horse before I bought a Japanese car”. Ha, there are two of them in our driveway now.

I broke down and bought a Hyundai Kona for my son - it should last him from his last of high school through college and then he can buy the sports car he wants! It has an amazing amount of nannies and I will always know where it is. Since he lives with his Mom I needed something that I felt wouldn't need much care and feeding and these things don't.

I never thought I would buy a Korean-made car as there were so many other choices and their first entries were a bit ... lacking. I had to be fair, though, and got what I needed at the right price.

I think the Santa Cruz is one of the most color sensitive vehicles out there. They look ok, maybe even good in some colors and awful in others.
The configuration strikes me as ideal for most people, haul trash, fish coolers, deer, muddy dogs, gas cans, lawnmowers, and other stuff you don't want inside without putting it on the roof, dealing with a hitch rack or having feet of bed they'll never use.

I rented a Kona and it was one of best rentals I’ve had in a long time. Good size to power ratio. I like the hatchback. Visibility, especially when changing lanes, was so much better than most newer vehicles that rely on sensors.

I’d rock one

The Santa Cruz seems like a perfect vehicle for many. When Honda Ridgelines first came out, they advertised it as, 'The perfect vehicle for a dad who does weekend projects' - and it was. I see this as similar. I have a pick-up, use the bed often, but hardly ever need the entire bed.
A co-worker drives 3 hrs a day to/from work in his '24 Santa Cruz - and loves it.

I've never bought a Japanese vehicle and never will.
