Let’s play the ol’ “What would you carry?” game

I did not say I don't own hicap firearms. I even have full autos in my collection. I just don't plan to fight a war on my way to the grocery store.
During the recent unrest around Charlotte I changed up and carried a Taurus g2c in my boot and my Delta elite iwb. But those are not my normal carry. What the op asked about.
If real unrest lead to riots here like they did up in yankee country, I would have added my sbr in open carry or tucked into it's backpack.

Even you admit that things got spicy in Charlotte leading you to carry more. It's not mall ninja to suggest carrying a more capable weapon when you are hundreds of miles away, that's foresight when police chiefs kneel for a junkie armed robber.

Yes. But the op wanted light, listed two lower capacity small handguns, and will be mainly fishing a river in a rural area. That far north it is highly unlikely he will be ambushed stumbling into a cartel growing operation nor is it likely he will be hanging in the hood sipping a 40 when they once again decide to get whitey by burning down their own neighborhood.

The abundance of Mexican meth, Chinese fentanyl, crushing economic downturn, rising inflation, unchecked border security, neutering of law enforcement, and promotion of violence against anything deemed racist by the party line is not contained to New York City and Chicago only.

Your suggestion is crime can't happen in rural wilderness. Watauga county had a murder/suicide that left the perp, his parents, and two deputies dead on the account of a jury summons just a few months ago. A letter to participate in the legal process left 5 dead due to mental illness..... that exists in every state rural to city unfortunately

I would carry my Shield 9 loaded with the 8 round mag and the 7 round in my pocket as I do everyday. I'm confident with shooting it and it's reliable so since I haven't found anything better I wouldn't change.

Have you ever BEEN to MI? It's hard to get to the north, WITHOUT going through Detroit, and there's plenty of crappy cities to traverse in OH before you get there.

The WHOLE state's run by a HALF-Whitmer, whom SOMEBODY up there had to have voted for. I'm not sure I'd wanna cross any of those mouth-breathers UNDER-armed. 🤔

I have usually been able to outshoot (with their own guns) the guys carrying antique 5-7 shot guns that told me I should practice more if I need 16 rounds. My Glock 19 is usually smaller and lighter too...which makes their objections to my gun even less convincing. Unfortunately my eyes don't let me back up my overbearing know-it-all attitude like they used to so I occasionally eat some crow.

I will say though, the best use of a revolver in 2021 (in my opinion) is j frame for backup or when you just don't want to hassle with the holsters that day.

To each their own. My greatest hope is that when I need to face off against someone, hopefully he made a bad carry choice.

Your Shield. One spare mag as well.

Focus on the trip. Enjoy the trip. Gun Is there as a precaution.

Stay vigilant and keep the gun ready.

The focus should stay on having fun and enjoying yourself.

i grew up in grayling, beautiful country up there!
I love it up there…in the summer 😀 We had a great time. Caught a few fish in the Holy Waters too! Have family on the thumb so spent some time there afterwards.

Carried the Shield with extended mags.

All depends where I'm going. Out here in the boonies I'm comfortable with my 340 PD S&W with extra speed loader. When I'm on the road I still have it and a 43c 8 shot J-frame in 22 LR. I keep a Glock 19 in my travel bag with extra 15 round mag.
