Just received some RMA 1155s. I do not have ANY plates yet. They are not multi-curve so unsure how comfy these will be in the long run. What is everyone’s experience with RMA? I’ve seen good and bad reviews. From what I gathered they are good plates but heavy. Will be running them in a crye JPC2.0

1) the NIJ has actually revoked the certification for the 1155 line, so that vendor is kind of lying to you
2) the revocation appears to be political and bogus. I'm seriously considering getting multicurve 1155 plates

That was straight from the RMA site. So something smells off. I wonder if the NIJ just revoked certification for a certain LOT#. Not sure if they would do that but i got 10x12s new for under 100$ a piece.

1155’s are a solid bang for the buck. Based on what is out there on the situation, I wouldn’t worry much about the NIJ revocation.

I have both single curve and multi curve, the multi are noticeably better fitting. However, I’m a normal Joe so plates are a SHTF thing for me. If SHTF, the single vs multicurve will be the least of my concerns.

For under $100/ea, hold on to those for sure and if you want to try multicurve at some point, go ahead.

I was told the NIJ bit was mostly relating to to the outer plate "bag" coming apart when exposed to heavy friction while wet, and it was limited to certain models. The plates themselves were still officially approved for LE use despite the recall. I'm opersting on hearsay so I could be totally wrong about the "why" but they should still be completely fine for use. Just don't swim with em.

I have these and I like them and mine are in the crye 2.0. I don't care about NIJ rating the more I read about them. All of these plates are now overpriced imho. Is someone here saying they are 100 bucks? Ill do some looking.

No. I just had a contact that got them for under 100 ea. They just arrived today DOM is prior to 1 sep so the NIJ rating is valid. I have them in the crye 2.0 as well and they are not as tight as i would like.

So just double checked and I lied DOM is in October so the NIJ is not valid? But they still post the NIJ on the plates? From what I saw on reddit from the CEO of RMA said a brand new guy did the test and did not follow proper procedures and when they received the “failed” plate nothing was wrong and another NIJ certifier confirmed that it shouldn't be a failure “off the record”..

You could cut a piece of foam to go in with the plate to tighten it up. If you got new plates for 100 bucks you got a hell of a deal. If you do not want them because of the NIJ thing message me and I'll buy them from you this weekend.

T Rex Arms sells some inserts to make single curve plates more comfortable, would probably also make them fit tighter and not wiggle around in the JPC.

I’ve got a set of 1155’s in my carrier currently and they fit my rather slim frame pretty good. They are rather heavy, but not unbearable unless you wear them for hours

FYI to anyone interested, but I have level 4 ICW plates in size large in the sale section for a GREAT price; they're from Tyr Tactical

Those plates are good, I've run them for awhile and while they ain't the best. It's always better to have something that CAN protect you! I don't really know why people don't like RMA
Because some are heavy AF (which you have to expect at the price. Lighter = Way more costly). And because of the recent NIJ thing people just turd on them instead of doing research.

Any company is the same way. Cheap = heavy. I don’t see any problem with RMA.
