Anyone have plate carrier mounted light recommendations?

The streamlight sidewinder compact ii is the only thing I’ve found that looks like what I want, but I’m sure there are other options out there I’m missing. Prefer one with white and red light.

Can anyone identify this one as well?

That looks like the Streamlight clip lite. Streamlight has a few options I think. Maybe 5.11, too.

Is this light for admin tasks (map reading, fiddling with stuff) or movement?

I have the sidewinder you posted; it’s great for movement, but a bit too much for discreet admin tasks.

I like the Princeton Tec Switch for admin:

I have them in white/red and red/IR. They work really well.

You’re welcome to check/try out any of them.

Mostly for admin. The last time me and Will shot at night and I borrowed a rifle light, I realized it was stupid to only have a light I had to aim my rifle at things to see with.

Don’t the red light on the sidewinder provide enough (but not too much) light for admin tasks?

The Princeton one looks legit.

It definitely provides enough. But I’d say it leans to “too much”.

Of course it’s also a balance of purpose right? Are you just goofing around d at night doing fun stuff, or is it going on your kit for end of the world? The Princeton provides a much more subdued light that doesn’t throw as far and is easily focused on your map/task whereas the Sidewinder is more a wide and strong beam.

Precision subsonic (Princeton) vs Shotgun as an analogy.

Maybe I need both.

That’s not tacticool! 🤣 I know a lot of people do that. I just want something permanent and durable. A durable headlamp is about the same price as the streamlight sidewinder, right?

You are correct sir, it's not tacticool, it's tactical. 😅
Headlamp around the neck is about as tactical as you can get.

When I work night matches, the jackasses that come up wearing their 10,000 lumen nuclear powered led lightbar headlamps on their forehead, shining right in my eyes, typically get a quick lesson in wearing around the neck!

@barf

Sidewinder’s a good light…folds up/down outta the way. 4 settings…IR, Reg, blue and red…

Far as headlamps go, if you want a pretty decent one that’s very affordable…

I’ve beat this one to sh*t and it still works well. Wasn’t a fan of the factory harness, so I made one. Used some plastic sheet like you’d use on an overhead projector to make a red/blue lens cover…pop right in and out.
