Hi all!

I need your help.

I have a 1870-ies Belgian copy of the S&W Russian Model 3. The gun isn't fully functional. I am looking for a gunsmith near Raleigh, NC, who can take a look and fix it. I searched online and found a couple, but neither answer email nor phone and don't call back on voicemail.

If you would suggest a gunsmith who can deal with an old gun, I will highly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Call Archie Brock or Kapp Ogburn. I don’t think Kapp’s taking work (he’s retiring soon, so your best bet for bending his ear may be swinging by his shop during office hours), but he might be able to point you in the right direction.

You’re probably going to need a true gunsmith—one that’s a legitimate toolmaker. A lot of folks can fit parts, do filework, checker wood, etc., but it’s a rare bird and a real artist that can make the tooling needed to fabricate, heat treat, and finish one-off parts. It may end up being cheaper to just buy a modern repro Model 3.

A bit of a drive for you. Western gunsmithing in Lexington
