Hey all, so our anniversary is coming up in April and thought about dragging the camper somewhere for a long weekend type trip just to get away. We’ve been to Kerr lake and Carrboro and thats about it with the camper. Done lotsa tent camping in the mountains, but we’re looking for something close to home . We are about an hour from the coast by Plymouth. Are there any good campgrounds in eastern nc worth visiting? Not really looking for beachy places, as we’ve had enough of the beach to last a lifetime!! Looking at around 3 hours drive time from Plymouth max. Where’s a good spot? Also, not really looking for a Koa type place, but more “private “. I’m thinking i can get more real world experiences from ya’ll than from a google search. Thanks in advance!

Check this one out, it’s rightbdown the road from the house, about 20 minutes from New Bern. Far enough away from the “touristy” spots, but still close enough for a day trip.

I'm not sure how far this is from Plymouth, take a look at Willow Tree in Longs SC. We've have heard nothing but good things and we're staying there for the first time in April for Spring Break.

We spent 2 weeks at Poplar Point on Jordan Lake. 30 - 40 feet of forest between sites. Electric was stable, water good but no sewer.

For an off the wall idea - NC State Fair Campground. Yes it is a giant open lot but you can walk to a game at the stadium or watch a horse show, art museum close by and various shows up the road. Water, Electric and Sewer but no showers.

Medoc Mountain State Park in Halifax County. There isn’t much to do aside from hiking and being left alone .

Pettigrew State Park is near to you in the Creswell area.

Merchants Mill Pond State Park in Gates County is good as well.

Haven't been anywhere yet, but i do appreciate the reply. I’m filing this one in potential places to go. Thanks!
