I'm looking for a small, fast access lockup for my bedside. The kids are grown but now the grand kids come over and they are everywhere with little eyes and little hands. I'd like a single pistol safe to bolt to the bed frame on my side.

I've seen the "biometric" hand scan pistol boxes. Are they good or is that unreliable? The push button combination safes seem easy enough to use but the hand print sure sounds easy to use fast.

Also would like it to open quietly. I've seen some that electronic beep really loud when they open. I don't like that. Anyone got one that doesn't do that?

Thanks in advance.

I use a gunvault sv500 and I like it. I’m curious what other people recommend as I’m looking for another one.

It is electronic push button. No issues in over 5 years.

You can turn off the beep but there is a kerchunk when the lock unlocks. I’ve also learned to catch it before the door drops to keep it quieter.

I’m a fan of the v-line pistol safe with simplex lock. Nothing electronic. Very simple and robust. However they’re pricy. I have several of the v-line brute models that have done great for a now over a decade.
