Free up some funds, sell me that chopped carry handle you snaggedI was interested, I'm just already massively over budget for gun bits.

What that set you back back then?I still have this old guy sitting around....that's a THICK barrel. Bought this at a gun show in upstate NY in the late 1980's.

It's not chopped, it just had a boltoplasty and tuck. And they finally delivered my front sight block, so I can't go parting it out just yet.Free up some funds, sell me that chopped carry handle you snagged
It was slightly heavier in the front, but Government Profile is not the same as a true heavy barrel. The Diemaco/Colt Canada C7 & C7A1 use a true heavy barrelDidn't the A2 have a heavy barrel (HBAR) as standard?
Yes. Diemaco created an entirely different mounting system for Canadian use which retains the standard black or green handguards.Kinda........
It was heavier from just behind the front sight base to the muzzle. Under the handguards it's as narrow as the A1 for the sake of mounting the 203.
I don't remember, it was 35 years ago. What that set you back back then?
This thread reminds me I've been wanting to put together a carry handle AR for awhile now. Not going for any "clone" in particular, just thinking a KP15 lower (or a regular lower with an A2 stock), A1 or A2 upper, 20" barrel, and rifle length gas. Just something nice and simple, I'd probably do an A2 style handguard, and maybe a dot on a goosneck mount.
It's gonna be spicy I suspect. We're gonna need a range vid
Perfect candidate for a single point slinga)

It's so tiny. Not sure I'm adding the sling swivel in the sight, it's a weird pin and will block access to the grub screw but I may add a simple flexible loop for a snap hook instead.

Does the brace bug you when you look at yours?' I'm getting tempted to drop the tax stamp money on it just so I can use a regular M4 stock or a short Ace stock or something.
Yeah, I've been debating throwing a QD endplate on there.Perfect candidate for a single point sling
$142 for the part that needs to go on is more than I want to spend lol. I've got an HKesque PDW stock that might look good on here, but honestly a bog standard collapsible would be great.
Why must you post this and make me start thinking about spending $$ I don’t have! This would look awesome on my BHD clone instead of using my sbr lower….but then I can take that upper and make it a pistol again…hmmm$142 for the part that needs to go on is more than I want to spend lol. I like the look of that brace too, but I'm really wary of 3d prints with the stress paths following the layer lines like that. 3d printed tubes have been fragile in my experience.
I messed about with Nerf modding for a while. I tried a few Nerf stock to buffer tube adapters so I could use AR stocks. Even just piddling about with them most of them delaminated to some degree under stress, which means one toob becomes two toob. And that's with zero recoil.I’ve never messed with anything 3d printed personally, don’t even like polymer AR lowers…but huge Glock guy
Is that an Arms #16 mount? I definitely like that set upYou've definitely got mine beat for shortness

Personally, I’m going to say the Black Hawk Down, but I’m biased cause that’s what I saw on the tv when I was young.I can't decide which one is my favorite........
The Troy BlackhawkDown commemorative.........

Both are light, and accurate, and impossible to not get excited when using...
Idk but I kinda want itI don't remember, it was 35 years ago.

The story as to why they had C7 uppers is a good read.
What’s the specs?
You may be SOL lolIs that an Arms #16 mount? I definitely like that set up
I’ve got an Arms #2 mount that was the extended version that had some loving done to it to make it shorter
Works great and have had for years.
Need to find a good alternate optic mount. Currently using a sig Romeo 5 on my C7 build, but it’s about to go on an AR pistol I’m finishing just to have an optic until I get a rear sight (or until @NCLivingBrit breaks down and sells me that rear sight)

And if you think this one is short, you should see one of the others I'm working on. Probably 6 inches shorter.

It's the vertical height that tweaks me. But until I can be arsed to SBR it I better get over it lolNah, brace doesn't bug me, took a little getting used to, but even at full extension it keeps it nice and short....

Repetitive persistence is keyYou may be SOL lol
Yes and no. I'm not quite right in the noodle and have been known to act against my own best interest purely to piss off someone who is pestering meRepetitive persistence is key
I ditched an entire AR9 that runs great because I hate the angle Glock mags sit at in the lower.Honestly I've never noticed the height. The things given the joy of a shorty, without the hassle of paperwork.
Repetitive persistence is key
It's just a basic carry handle with the giant nuts changed out ans the bolts shortened a little lolJust keep an eye on GB, I've plain dumb lucked myself into some really good things on the "to get" list just by being patient
