I have used Hoppes, Break Free CLP, and Hoppes Elite. Have never really noticed a difference. Tempted to switch to mobile 1.

It's heavier than Hoppes, which is why I like it. Just started using it this year.

In fact, I just bought a quart and refilled an old Hoppes dispenser.

But, I recently came into the 21st century.

I'd say that for most of our guns that sit in a nice cozy safe all week and go out to play a couple days here and there any lube will work. It's not like we're in 'theater' for 90 days on end. Keep it cleaned, lubed and maintained and whatever you have will be fine. I have pretty much started sticking to Hoppe's only because I can get it everywhere. The Mobil 1, or whatever your favorite automoitve oil is is likely just as good and more frugal.

it really doesn't matter. Use whatever you have handy.

Some type of oil on pivoting things and some type of grease on sliding things.

I just got some "Super Lube" in oil and grease to try. I have a whole shelf of options, they all work fine for the most part.

For the Mobile 1, AMSOil, etc guys/gals...

Motor oil?
Gear lube?
ATF?

Some combination? Or just any of it probably works fine?

What ever is on sale! Lol I do keep lithium grease on the contact points on the bgc of my ARs . Seems to stay in place and works for me.

I use Eno's slide glide medium and heavy on my slide rails.

Mobil 1 is now my go to for AR's and ares for light lube. Wish I would have went Mobil 1 a long time ago! The geezers were right!

Wesson oil and Coconut oil for grease. Works as well as some commercial rebrandings of the same thing ;)
