Wonder if anybody has grabbed one of these and has any experience to share. I'm looking at it for a very specific purpose and think it might fit the bill.
Specifically I want it as my gun to use while on the security team at Church. I'd like to get more round quantity than my Shield. My CZ P10C is just a tad too long in the barrel and grip than I'd like to have while wearing a suit.

I have one but haven't shot it. One nice thing about the gun is that you can carry a spare 17 round magazine.

I picked one up yesterday on an impulse buy. I might Apex it up, not sure yet. Or I might just give it to my son. It's actually pretty decent. Looks like S&W got the 2.0 version of this pistol right.

I bought that standard 2.0c right before they released the 3.6. I would have definitely gone with the 3.6 if they had it when I got mine, seems like a great pistol.

I picked one up myself. It only took S&W over two almost three decades to copy the glock 19 formula. I like it. Not my pic....but you get the idea. I could go home and take the same pic of my g19 and 2.0 and they'd look the same...only with really gross dead skin on the 2.0 since that stippling is decently aggressive.

It struck me as an American made by an American company Glock 19. The fact that my cheap self bought one new says alot about it :)

I was selling to buy a P10c that was here but sold first. Only reason really.

I like it a lot, its great for CC. After I messed with it a bit, I got it to a spot thats comfortable and hides well on me. My only plans are to replace the trigger shoe with the apex for $37.

The trigger shoe is my only complaint on the 2.0. The 1.0 feels ok but the 2.0 feels like it wraps half way around my finger. I bought the apex flat trigger kit for my 5ā€.

I'll have to go a different route. I don't like flat triggers. However, I've shot the Shield so much I've gotten use to that stupid hingy trigger S&W has.

Just get the polymer Apex. Itā€™s not flat and is only $40. I actually need to pick up another now that I think about it.

At Midway.
  • Reduces trigger pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20%
  • Smooths trigger face helps the shooter to place their finger on the center line of the trigger
  • Center mounted pivoting safety maintains factory safety values

Mike, sort of apples and oranges, but I ran a timed drill including a reload shooting a stock full sized M&P 2.0 on the clock against your old G17. It wasn't a fair fight because the Glock has a fiber front sight, and an extended slide release from a G34.

I expected the Glock to run faster if for no other reason than faster target acquisition and easier to drop the empty mag, which it did by a full second on a ten second drill. But my takeaway beyond that is I don't like the ergos on the M&P 2.0 nearly as much as I thought I would in comparison to the Glock. I am not a Glock fanboy by any means despite my romance with the G43 I carry in my pocket, but I was just surprised at how much better the grip, trigger "location" and slide release work for me on a Glock as opposed to the M&P 2.0, which until that drill, I thought I was going to be all about the M&P 2.0

Gonna test it out when I get the time. Not sure I want to run this on competition yet. Still having fun with the Shield...lol.

Security? Hereā€™s an option. Go glock 19, donā€™t look back! Itā€™s the same size overall as the M&P 2.0 3.6ā€ yet has 4ā€ barrel. I carried original M&Pā€™s. This lead me to a Glock 19 for personal use. Currently a Gen 5 G19 with Trijicon HD night sights. I prefer the Gen 5 Grip, just personal preference. Stock trigger is also a bit smoother.

I find grip size is more important for concealment than a half inch of barrel or slide.

I think the M&P 2.0 is a decent gun. Get what fits you.

These differing opinions is why I tell people you have to choose the pistil that actually "shoots" best in your hands under some stress and not a controlled slow fire range environment. I started with Glocks then made the move to M&P when I realized I shoot them better under stress. I also learned that my grip and hands don't care for the Glock which caused slide bit and premature slide lock. For me I also find the M&Ps to have a softer felt recoil....especially the full size 9 and 45. Went thru a Sig phase too and found the compact Sigs something about my hand/grip would cause me to release the mag while shooting which is no bueno. This and the premature slide lock on Glocks never showed itself during slow fire range time. It was only when the pace/stress picked up. This is also why I tell people don't buy simply based on what feels best in your hand. I love the fact that we have so many options on the market now and advise people looking to buy to try them all. I know I want to spend some time behind the trigger of the new CZ P-Series and HK VP9 to see how they work for me.

NO. No more Glocks. Had 3 G19's, and hated them. And I have over 100,000 rounds in the 3 G34's, G17's, and G26's I've owned. Cannot say why for sure that the G19 just doesn't agree with me...but I've tried it and it doesn't work for me.

This...right here is the truth. I had no problems with Glocks (except the G19) until I had my neck injury and surgery. Now, because of the nerve damage to my arm, and my trigger finger and thumb, the Glocks no longer work for me. I cannot for the life of me understand why...but the trigger mechanism and mag release is now an issue. I moved to a CZ Shadow 2 in competition and the problem fixed itself. I also went away from carrying the G26, and went with the CZ P10c...and that fixed things for the most part. And, I have never had a problem with my Shield as that thing is a machine gun in my hand. I have to except the fact that things have changed beyond my control and adapt to it. Too bad...I loved them Glocks forever.

@Starkherz199

I have a full size 9mm M&P and an M&P9c in the 1.0 configuration. I have carried Glocks and M&P over the years and I keep coming back to the 9/40/357sig
In the Compact version. I shoot them the best personally. I had no issues with the Gen 4 Glock 19 but the Gen 5 I recently sold I just couldnā€™t shoot it well at all. Get what works best for you and you feel confident with.

I have discovered this to be absolutely true, that no matter how good a gun feels in my hand or how good the trigger feels it is absolutely no predictor of how well I'll actually shoot that gun. You had also mentioned a year or two ago shooting them side by side on the clock rather than slow fire range drills to compare and that is how I compare guns now. It's usually an eye opener.

Finally got a chance to break it in.
- It is pretty accurate...which is a step up from the 1.0 M&P.
- The grip texture really helps recoil management. This is a really nice upgrade from the other polymer striker guns with the exception of the CZP10c.
-I really dislike the articulating trigger; which surprised me as the one on the Shield doesn't bother me. I still shot it ok. By 100 rounds I got the hang of it. @Wahoo95 is right about this. If I had to keep it it would not be a big deal. Honestly I've never picked up a handgun I couldn't shoot well. But I can see why some people dislike that trigger.
- The trigger pull and reset are fantastic. This is a major upgrade over the Glock imo.
- The chamber was really tight. Much tighter than any Glock I've ever used. This is with my cast competion bullets. Haven't tried factory or JHP's yet.
- The gun overall was really tight. It seemed a little better after 200 rounds. If anybody gets one I recommend going ahead and hitting that RSA with some lube. That helped.
-Much better ergonomics. No more Glock knuckles.
-Did not notice the loss of a half and inch on the slide and barrel. The gun actually returns to the next shot really fast.
-If it holds good for the next 1800 rounds I think I have a winner here.

With the cheaper price, better trigger, steel sights, better grip texture, and superior ergonomics, I don't see any reason to buy a Glock again.

I can't believe I'm saying that. I've always been a Glock guy. But, times...they are a changing

Update: I put the Apex kit in it. Trigger is 4lbs. Ran it in a competition to break it in...zero issues. This gun is a winner. Glock has been dethroned in my house. The only bad thing on this gun is the crappy slide release.

Is that supposed to be an extended slide stop or magazine release? Not being a troll, just curious.

Sorry. I meant slide stop. I've changed multiple thumb safeties on 1911's recently and had that word on the brain.
