I have a pro series 5" 2.0 I'm wanting to put an Apex trigger in. From the online reviews it looks like the polymer trigger kit is the same thing as the alluminum but reading apex's website it sounds different. I love the way the trigger is now just cannot get used to that hinge. Does anyone know if the polymer kit feels close to the same as the alluminum? Ive shot a few of the older alluminum kits and loved them. Just trying to save money if it's not necessary.

I don't know the difference but I had the polymer one and liked it.

If your going to do the action enhancement kit you will have to remove the rear sight. If you think you will want aftermarket sights you might as well do them at the same time.

I have the polymer trigger kit in mine and a buddy has the aluminum kit. The only difference I can tell is when you place your trigger finger on the trigger one feels like polymer and one feels like aluminum. I can’t tell any difference in their performance. However with all things YMMV.

Apex has two different triggers: FSS and AEK. The AEK comes in both polymer and aluminum. The FSS is only aluminum and is more of a competition trigger IMO.

After reading Jerzsubbie post I went to Apex website. The models I was talking about are original M&P model not the 2.0. The forward set trigger is the one you want and it used to be offered in a polymer model, they must have discontinued that model. Trust me you do want the forward set trigger kit. Sorry for the confusion.

I could be wrong but I didn’t think they ever did a polymer FSS because it’s their premium trigger. I like polymer and the premium for aluminum plus FSS is what prevented me from going that route. I have shot an FSS and they’re great!!

Edit: never mind, I just looked again and they do in fact have a polymer FSS now. I’m glad to see this because I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case a couple years ago when I got my 2nd 2.0 pistol.

Buddy of mine has an alluminum Apex in his m&p but the guy he bought the gun from doesn't remember if he installed the aek or fss. His trigger feels extremely similar to my pro series m&p except less pretravel on the intial pull but reset and break are the same. Am I right to assume he has the aek?

Yes, that sounds like AEK to me. It’s a nice improvement but not super short.
I like the polymer AEK trigger shoe simply to get rid of the hinged OEM trigger.

Sounds correct to me. The AEKs are nothing compared to the FSS kits.
