Have an 18” Corona I’ve have for years. It stays sharp and cuts small limbs with ease. Also cuts bigger stuff pretty good too. Well I was clearing some limbs yesterday and she snapped about 4” from the tip. So I’m looking for a new one. Any recommendations? I like the longer blade for reach. I see they make a 22” blade also. I like the fact that it’s a thinner blade hence why it cuts twigs with ease. Is there any others out there that are superior to these? Made a little better? I may just go back with another Corona. It thought I’d check.

It actually still cuts really good like this. May grind the sharp point off the back and keep using this.

Damn right grind it correctly and keep using!

As to a “replacement” I have a 15 or so year old Condor that I’d guess is an 18” almost semi-Kukri style. It is a beast and as to sharpness only needs touching up every so often. It’s cleared underbrush and lower pine branches with no problems. NOW it is 1075 and as to rusting … if it’s not oiled and stored right it will rust in a heart beat. What I like is the feel of the handle and the extra weight the semi-Kukri shape blade gives. It is not a machete/knife it is a machete!

I've been using some random sword I found when I moved in. The Chineseum handle is gonna brake and kill me one day

this will give you a bit more reach

Haha. I believe I’d use my pole saw before I had to wield that around

keep what you have and already know.
see if it will work a little while longer.

I would look at the Esse Junglas. It expensive but has lifetime warranty. All Esse have lifetime warranty no questions asked. SMKW is where I find them cheaper than online.

Imacasa and Tramontina are standards. They also make for other brands like Marbles, etc. I would wager big dollars one of those companies made that Corona machete.

Stick with thin if you are in the vines, limbs, and little stuff. Maybe try out a Panga shape and put on edge on the hook side. If you want to try a thicker blade with less flex, Ontario would be a great start.

Of course, I have to plug the Fiskars Bush Axe, my daily user.

Another vote for Imacasa. It's the real deal. I believe Condor is one of their trade names. But, other names mentioned, Marbles, Ontario... are good too.

I have an ESEE Lite Machete and it's an Imacassa with thier handle put on it. I need to get a proper sheath made for it

I do like the thinner style blades for cutting smaller stuff, it works good

Any idea where you can get these? I've got one, but could use another. Seem to be discontinued everywhere I look.
I know. I’ve looked too. Haven’t looked on eBay but no telling what you’d pay

Check this out for clearing light brush. It's my favorite tool for that.

I like that design. I believe I’ll order one and give it a try. Never can have too many haha

I prefer the 18". 22" was hard on my elbow with extended use. This coming from trail work. I also prefer a thicker blade. The thinner/flexible blades bounce off stuff and I like my little legs. I've come close to them with a ricochet from thinner blades. I give the thinner blades away.
This is the 1 I like the most;

I love the slimmer blades because they cut briars and other small diameter brush better. But I hear ya on the bouncing off and getting your legs. This was a few years back. My wife and a friend sowed me up in the living room. 960281F8-46C4-4BDF-A5E4-90782E17AE81.jpeg

I have a sugar cane machete that was my great grandfathers, made in Germany.
Very thin and razor sharp, it rings when you use it to cut briars, small limbs, etc.

You're officially a Surveyor now.

I had a sugar cane before but passed it on to someone else. Just didn't feel right. I have my dads from his days in service but it only comes out to be cleaned. Nothing else!
