Stopped by an LGS this afternoon and seems some magazines are starting to be out of stock at distributors. The LGS owner said he’s okay with Magpul but some factory mags are drying up ... he can get some G17’s but G19’s are gone. Yeah, I know G17’s can run in the smart Glocks but for carry and such having a few extra of the shorter G19’s. While talking he said he isn’t going crazy on AR or AK mags since the supply of those the past few years has been well over demand. His take is OEM handgun magazines especially those over 10 rounds are where things will dry up way quicker and prices jump. He’s trying to keep the OEM Glocks, Sig (especially 365’s), M&P’s, etc but as soon as he gets them in they are gone within a day or so.

I remember after Clintons ‘94 AWB and its mag limit when G17 17 round mags were going for $150 plus so if you are thinking about beefing up you overall reserves ... maybe a few extra factory OEM mags (with over a 10 round capacity) might be something to move up on your list.

I've been having a tuff time finding mini 14 mags.....seem almost non existing. Got a guy I'm suppose to meet Sunday afternoon that has a few aftermarket mags. Not real crazy about them, but priced good and kinda in a position where you take what you can get. Just hope they function well. With that said....It doesn't suprise me about magazines being the next thing to go.

Personally, I'm finding lot's of things drying up. I was going to pick up a Magpul sling at Academy, because I knew they had them. Nope. Almost the entire stock of Magpul stuff was out. Generally, their shelves were short on a lot of stuff. Finding that online as well.

FWIW I've been buying AR mags since the summer after stocking sufficiently on ammo the past 2 years. Mainly Magpul and DH aluminum, some for me and some as a hedge on increased prices to resell and fund more future projects. My last cases were just after the election, even then they were starting to go out of stock but magpul seemed to restock fast. I still follow those few sites and as this month progressed though, more, and more, sites are out of stock, and magpul restocking seems to be slower due what I'm guessing is increasing demand. Price wise, Magpul 30rds are only up $2-3 per mag depending on model online. From glancing at the stores I've been in, what can be bought online for $11-13 are going for $14-17. As far as my hedge on mags, I've bought enough at a price (<$10/mag) that I hope to make money in the future, but if they fully ban standard mags (which I think will be very hard, they just may end production) I'm out an amount that isn't going to hurt too bad. A full on ban would squash this plan.

For my personal collection, over the past year, I've bought a dozen-ish for each firearm (that I have no intention of selling) that uses a magazine over 10 rds. For those that I may sell I just have a couple. If nothing happens, great I have some extras and can sell in the future if needed, but I was behind the ball with the Osama election and tried to go into this election a bit more prepared.

What I don't think people realize is with the older WW1, WWII, and Vietnam weapons that used large number magazines. Most have not been made in decades and any stock is in homes in which the owner is older and may pass in the next 5-10 years (sorry not trying to be morbid). Right now these folks are still selling some, but as they pass, it is becoming trendy (by the libtard left) for the heirs to turn this stuff into the PD and at buy-backs for cash for a facebook or instagram photo op. This further reduces the stock. Examples would be Grease Gun and Sten. Other military guns that still have mags in production have very few, if any 10 round options, such as the Colt/Uzi pattern 9mm and Thompson in 45. Finding new production that could fit a 10rd limit will be costly.

That is just my $0.02

Coming from a place that had local restrictions on magazines and had an annual attempt at magazine bans I've made it a habit to buy 10 round mags with every gun purchased in addition to multiple standard magazines. It's a hedge against knee jerk infringement so I can remain compliant for traffic stops (the most likely contact regular people have with LEO). You may consider getting some while it's easy to do. If they introduce and move a magazine ban in congress compliant magazines will be unobtainable.

Well time for me to load up more on Hungarian AK Mags and HK 9mm mags (If I can find them at a good price)

Stock up while you can.

As I am a CO transplant, this true.

Get mags.

To reinforce, look at what Magpul's history is.

I was in my local picking up a transfer today. Saw more people walking around with the little shopping baskets than I’ve ever seen before. Most were filled with
Mags. Seemingly Magpul AR mags were the popular option. Almost every customer who checked out while I was paper working had mags. I guess more
Peeps see it coming. Most didn’t look like seasoned gun buyers, whatever “we” look like. Strange times......

If you couldn't get your hands on oem glock 19 gen 4 mags what would be your next choice? I'm looking at magpul, ets, elite tactile and amend2.

Thank you. I hadn't given this much thought. Went to Academy this morning and bought two 10 rounders this morning. Probably should have bought a couple more.

It could be that Magpul is trying to prevent a repeat of 2012 when people were reselling $12 magazines for $100 due to a lack of supply.

Personally I'm hoping for a short spike because I'm sitting on a giant pile of mags I would love to convert to cash although I would be fine keeping them too.

All that testing I did on non-OEM glock mags, and people just crapped on me for even bothering to learn what works and what doesn't. Now they see why.
Do you have a post on here on your findings? I’d love to read it

Apparently I'm the only one that gets constant emails from online sellers and others with tons of mags for sale. Including Glocks (of all calibers & sizes) Sig, CZ, HK, S&W, Springfield, ar15, ar10, ak's..blah blah blah..even stuff like Sten.
Hoarding? Not until this thread.
There will be now.
All it takes is for one person on the freeway to hit the brakes and then everyone is in a traffic jam.

This is the worst part about being involved within the gun community.
The panic.
The panic to hurry up and acquire something..to sit on it. Because five guys in two stores might kinda be and internet willy's and the prison states are freaking out and the dealer who would love to sell every mag in the store said so.

Huh?

You think it might have to do with this on AOL today.

In addition to background checks and an assault-weapons ban, Biden is calling on Congress to outlaw high-capacity magazines and make gun manufacturers liable for the role their products play in violence.

Mini-30 mags are the same way even the aftermarket ones are getting scarce.

I used to carry ETS mags and did not have any mag malfunctions although their spring is weaker than OEM mags. For magpul Glock mags, I wouldn't trust them having used them on my G19/G34/G17 at the range with 1-2 malfunctions per 500 rounds. Maybe there's a break-in period but I just consider them range mags, the ETS can make due but OEM is best.

Gunmagwarehouse.com has some depending on what you’re looking for. As of 5 mins ago.

I've seen responses to posts that folks are paranoid, spreading doom and gloom. I guess hording (magazines, guns, ammo, etc.) is a real thing.

They might be allocated for gun production.
They are indeed doing that. I am a certified Armorer for Glock and I have parts on back order from October. When I placed my order they informed me it would be 90 days. I followed up 110 days after placing my order, and they said it could be up to 180 days from the date of order. She explained this was because they have no parts or magazines to ship out. They are all being allocated to new guns being built because they are 220 days out on handgun orders and they had to stop taking parts orders for that very reason. The lady told me they couldn’t even send parts to major Glock suppliers like Lenny McGills Glockstore, Glockmeister and others. However she was apologetic and said they are doing all they can do working to fix the backlog but, the panic buying was crazy in addition to new and upgrades with military and law enforcement purchases.

Seems like the magazine shortage started with the crazies on the forums starting to talk about a run on mags. And ladies, I also heard a rumor that there may be a coming shortage of sheets and pillow cases so when you're out grabbing every mag you can find it might not hurt to pick up a few bed sets, especially the ones with the floral patterns. 👍 🤣
