Metal mags or magpul

Huge fan of Magpul products and the company’s dedication to pro 2a politics. They’ve supported mag drops to states to skirt laws and support users behind enemy lines
I’ve used mags for ARs , AKs and Glock - all are a ridiculously good value and they all work

You should add a place to vote for all of the above. Except Promag cause nobody should ever use or rely on a promag for any firearm. I've used a bunch of different mags for ar platforms. I have mil surp metal mags that work fine. I've got magpul mags in 10 and 30 rounders that have always worked fine. I also like hexmag and lancer. I probably have more hexmag 30 rounders then any others cause I found a deal several years back and bought a freaking box full for 6 dollars each.

I voted magpul, but I also like lancer. Never an issue from either. I dont like 2A mags. I've had 6 metal mags in my life. Half have been thrown away due to no longer feeding properly.

Lancers have been my go to for quite a while, specifically the smoke mags or translucent FFE. Just wait for them to go on sale and buy in bulk!

My magpuls have been fine enough, but even then I mostly shoot the windowed ones. Not sure why we all love witness holes for round counts on pistol mags but not on rifles 😅.

Voted for metal, but have nothing against PMAGs, at all…used both and never had any issues.

Pretty much have switched over to all metal, though….easier to store loaded magazines 8/box.

Mostly Okay and a few Brownells/DSG magazines…never had any issues with any of them

I love magpuls and use them routinely, but I also like the idea of passing down guns to my kids and I have seen too much plastic disintegrate in storage to ever put my full trust in it. It would be a lot easier to whittle or 3d print a new follower than it would be to try and recreate a whole new mag. So for that reason I like having aluminum mags around even if they don’t get a ton of use

Cut my teeth on metal mags many years ago. Still have a bunch of them. Like composite (plastic) mags there are good brands and bad ones. Don’t think I ever had any issues with original Colts and Bushmasters (outside normal maintenance). I Magpul and Lancer in composite mags.

Lancers are my favorite. Magpul is probably what I have the most of. Still use a decent amount of metal okay industries.

No promag in any gun ever.

Just a few weeks ago I was shooting with a friend and his sig wasn't cycling correctly. He said "here you try it" and handed it to me. The thing ran like crap. I pulled the mag and there it was "promag"

I chambered one round. Said "there's your problem" as I chucked the magazine down range and shot it with his own gun lol. He was immediately like "hey what'd you do that for???"

Me- "you. I did that for you" I had a real hard time keeping a straight face. He actually had a second mag that was original and after digging it out the gun ran great.

Friends don't let friends run promags.

I own more metal than polymer mags but prefer Magpul 10 rounders for hunting. Even the Hexmags, AMEND2 & MSAR mags have run well for me.

I have to defend the Promags for one application - they're incredible as range toy beater mags for the HK 93/53/33 series of guns. They just work in these rifles and are dirt cheap.

I have an assortment of polymer AR mags that have so far all worked fine, but I have not used them excessively.

The very first Magpul I owned I had issues with. Could only load to 27. Anymore than that and it would unload itself. That soured me on them for a while. I have a few now, but I usually grab metal first.

I've got a pile of metal 30s, 20s and some 10s for 556 and Magpuls for 300. Makes it harder to kaboom myself. I actually prefer the metal mags but wanted then to be obviously different.

I like metal for pictures on some ar's. They look cool. Classic.

I like Lancer for shooting the most. Magpul is fine and can usually get good deals.

My "go to" 5.56 mags are Lancer. I have some Magpul mags set back, but I don't shoot a lot of 5.56. Only have one gun in 5.56. My other mags are all metal and they fit in real battle rifles.

like most of the post above, I have metal, lancer and Magpul.

@beeleafs you should drop that picture of your amend2 mag failures if you still have them.
Garbage. 3 failures out of 6. They went into the trash can at 2850 fps. 😂
I will search to see if I still have the pics.

I like magpuls but I have a bunch of Okay’s that put my trust in. Some of the 20 rounders are 50 years old and still getting it. Voted metal

I have both. But I like metal mags better.

Meh. For ARs Magpul is king for value and reliability. Can't beat it. BUT for other platforms there are other options. AKs seem to have particular taste depending on country, builder, importer, etc.

If using a non AR-15 firearm then whatever the issued mag is seems to be the best idea. I have an original Colt 20-rounder that I keep around because its classically sexy and helps when shooting off a rest. Otherwise, its magpul for serious use and whatever is on sale (that does NOT have a green follower).

I voted both. OKAY industries is pretty great too.

Magpul.

If Magpul mags disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn’t have an issue with metal mags but as long as I have a choice I’ll choose Magpul simply because that’s what I’ve used most and they haven’t let me down. I have a few metal mags but never really use them.

Serious question ( I've never been in combat so I have no idea ). Have you ever been "let down" by a metal mag in combat?

.
Never used them. I’ve been carrying Magpuls since they came out.
