I’d like to be able to shoot my 39-A but My old eyes can’t deal with the factory sights. I was thinking about installing a skinner peep sight and see if this helps. Maybe add a high-visibility front blade. There are also the Williams peep sights but I like the looks of the skinner better. Anyone have any advice or input here?

Have you looked at Skinner Sights?

I have not used Skinner but heard they are good. I have used Mojo sights on some other stuff. I can say get a larger aperture to try as well. Old eyes like the bigger holes to look through. The standard size may still be to small.

That’s what I was looking at. Have you used it?

I've got a Marlin with Skinners on it, but sad to say I have not shot it yet.
I have used peeps on others from 22LR to 30-06 and love to use them.

I used Skinner's sights on my old Marlin 30AS. Great sights & he has multiple aperture sizes available.

I have a Skinner peep site on a Henry Small Game (Lever action) which is a comparable modern carbine similar to the 39A Mountie. Easy to zero for your preferred site picture. Definitely prefer it to standard open sites! I bought another Skinner for my 39A but have not installed it yet as my brother currently has that rifle.
