Picked this up at lunch time today. Haven’t actually been able to sit down and look everything over, but I’m exited about a project! So far I see a cracked stock, missing rear sight, missing screw and missing target. I’ll start pulling it apart this evening to see what else needs to be addressed. There was a 16G side x side in the pile too, might have to refer to someone more educated than I to see if it’s safe to shoot.

Started pulling her apart:

Barrel band off, noting rust specs on the barrel.

Top cover removed, niiiiice and blued. You can see where the old dovetail sight was for a regular 60.

Front sight removed, it was pushed back about 3/4” too far and was crooked.

And the buggered screws on the bottom, gotta find some replacements for these.

After the 0000 grit steel wool and hoppes treatment.

"Repaired the stock with glue,......"

What type glue did you use?

.
I injected it with non expanding gorilla glue. It dries a honey color and excess comes off with a thumb nail

I've got my childhood 99M1 that I need to restore. I've had the buffer, sear, all springs, front sight, etc. for about 10 years, but have been apprehensive to take er apart. Fortunately, I still have the original peep sight & the stock's in great shape.

I’d say go for it! There isn’t anything to them honestly. Use the box method if need be to contain parts

Sweet project. I love restorations, of anything.

Well, she’s done but the picture I wanted to upload from my phone is somehow magically too large.
