May 2024 50 & 25 yard Rimfire Challenge

I thought the same thing too. Sometimes you can tell the Wind has increased or changed directions and I have been tempted to shoot at the closest black dot to see how it effects your shot. I usually have another target with spots on it hanging next to my scoring target.

That’s what I will do most of the time

Same here. We shoot ARA matches and I cut off all the unused sighters from match targets left by match shooters.

I tried to open the attachment, but it just comes up blank on my ipad. Maybe @amnesia can fix it, like he fixed the blank screen this morning 🧐

Anyway,
I tried 11 different ammo selections through the CZ457 that I pulled out of a plain field stock, and installed into my MTR stock, which was missing the barrelled action it came with, now in a chassis.
Pictures show the rifle and its target. Those flatnose bullets do pretty well. Unfortunately, some Greensboro cops were on the 50 yard bay all day, with lots of 3-round bursts and mag dumps going on. They must get free ammo.
I only had the 25 yard range to test the ammo, so I used my Surefire suppressor for all groups. 10-round groups for all but one RWS Target Rifle group, marked as 5 rounds cause I have no more of it.
Of course, I had to shoot for score on one of my last targets before my HP ink vacuum drained dry.
The Cz cost me just under $600, scope was $500 and the stock was a take-off. Both the rifle and the scope perform way above their price point. I suspect this plain 457 will outshoot its MTR brother, given good ammo. It is much quieter than the MTR:cool:
The Surefire cost $500 and was in ATF hell for 1 year.
Wind was negligible, temp was 78F.
Cops were cops, annoying.

I have been waiting to see your Fly Target, did you ever get it to copy?

He had a bad accident and may be out of shooting action for a few weeks.

Thank you Amps for the update.
Amanda 4461 I hope you make a complete and Speedy recovery and sorry this even happened.
Thanks!
I see the surgeon this morning, so I will see if she can de-Prime my hand🤕
Now that I know what it feels like to be shot with primer parts, i will stay far away from the Trap & Skeet fields👀

Second attempt at the Fly Shoot this morning. I had to bribe my wife with the promise I would vacuum and mop the floors today. It was worth it. I shot a perfect score (130 + 10 pts) with my Winchester 52 C and Norma Match 22.
Eric F it isn't for sale!

Definitely a good trade with your wife. I have to do the same thing to get out of the house. I'm gonna find a Winchester 52 sooner or later. Great shooting.

I saw on on a YouTube video for sale, with the original wooden box that it came in. I didn't see a price. BUDS Gun Shop. Com.
It is probably already gone.

Andddd, he back! Good shooting for sure.

Went back to video. It was 3 years ago.
I find that a lot with a general search. Cabela's used guns often has something, but priced high. Gunbroker has a few at a time with a wide range of prices. Hoping to find one at a show or local shop. Maybe on the gun forum.

Just want to make you sick----- I bought mine in 1968 from the Navy. I was temporarily stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was assigned to help in the Armory. I had just got Married and was only making $42.00/ week. I was a 3rd Class Quartermaster and I was working with a 1st Class Gunney. One day he asked me if I wanted to buy any guns. I said yes. He told me they were having a surprise Admiral inspection and they had some rifles that they needed to get rid of.
We went to the sealed bid auction and they had 5 Winchester 52 C with Redfield Olympic metallic Sights. I picked out the best looking one and wrote my bid of $18.00 down. My Gunny said if you are going to bid THAT MUCH, you might as well add a few cents. I changed my bid to $18.08. I think I only had $20.00 at the time. I was High bidder so I could have got all 5 of them for $18.08 apiece. I just got the one I picked out. Something about hindsight keeps popping up every time I think about that day.

I haven’t had a chance to shoot our new target yet. Work has had me busy and the weather hasn’t helped. Headed camping till Monday and then I am off of work next week so I am hoping to be posting some targets by Wednesday.

Hopefully I will be at the range this week. Once I get a stable platform the scores should improve. Still shooting in the backyard when weather permits. This is my current project. CZ At One MTR. Just upgraded the barrel. Groups are really good. I posted one 5 shot group. Hitting the flies is another story. Got close, but not perfect. Fighting off cicadas as I shoot.

Need one click on Elevation and one click to Left on Windage.
I haven't heard or seen any Cicadas here in Statesville. Where are you located.

I did adjust the scope a couple times, but a new barrel takes a little while to become consistent. I was very happy to see the results so far. We are in Alamance county along Rt 54. Cicadas sound like a space ship landing in the background, with waves of maraca's playing.

Last month my best target was shot with the CZ MTR barrel. I have been looking for 2 years to get another CZ MTR barrel, but no luck, until last week. EuroOptics had them in stock, but not for very long. I think I got the last one. It came in yesterday, so this was my first outing. I also have the Lilja aftermarket barrel on another CZ, which is an outstanding barrel, but twice the price.

Well it was raining but as you can see I found a way to keep my targets dry. Took the CZ 457 out today after cleaning it for the first time in awhile. It was shooting very well right outta the gate with all hits on my first target. I had to plug two of the flys but believe I hit em.
Both shot with with SK Standard. I shot some Midas + through it for the first time and it just seemed alright.

Super shooting! Way to wet for me. I like the tent. Apparently the rain had no impact on the accuracy of your bullets. Do you have a dry bag to retrieve the targets? :D

Umbrella to retrieve targets. I don’t know if it did or not but there was basically zero wind so that was a nice change.
