Anyone ever go to this? With my job I don't get to see gunshows anymore, and I mostly do mil surplus anyway. So I am wondering if this is any good

Do you have a link or dates or something?

I've never been to gun show but I've always wanted to. I've never heard of one of these but it sounds more interesting then a gun show. If one would ever get closer to me I might make it a point to check it out.

Thought I added that. Can't find a link right now but it is new year's eve and new year's day at the fair grounds. Think it is the old north state show. It is pretty much all mil surp

When I lived in the Triangle, I went to this show ever time it was in town. It is in the Kerr Scott building at the State Fairgrounds and is smaller than any other Raleigh show, but there is more concentrated good stuff than with the regular gun shows. I used to set up there with a friend of mine and we had a grand time trading with other collectors who set up. As a general rule, you will see more collectors set up there than gun dealers. Collectors of all kinds - guns, uniforms, edged weapons, badges, militaria, etc. However, as with other shows, the quality of it has declined over the years. Some of the old collectors I used to trade with have died or are in too poor health to continue. Still, it is worth attending. I won't be going this year, but I attended last year and had a good time.

One guy I knew always hit the flea market Saturday morning before the show and would come in laden with WWI military stuff. If you make the trip, come early and hit the flea market, too.

The milsurp store near me doesn't sell ammo but if you want a cheap sword, pocket knife, or rubber band gun you're in luck.

I've gone once. There was a lot of military _collectable_ stuff and not a lot of general surplus. That's not a bad thing, but it's good to realize. I guess to summarize, what it meant was there was less stuff, but the stuff that was there was more expensive and more specialized. It was worth going to once at least.

Im sure that would be a great show to go to. If I wasnt OOT, I certainly would make the drive for that.

Yep, and its a dang shame.
Used to be a small spot here in Davidson County...wonderful place. Been gone for twenty plus years now.

Still got Delks, but its about an hour drive.

Might try to make this show

The sad thing is that mil-surp has turned into Chicom knock-off junk for most of the places both locally and on the web. It's getting difficult to find actual non-issued (or even issued) mil-surp stuff anywhere.

Cargo pockets. Cargo pockets as far as the eye can see.

I never heard of this, but it sounds like it might be worth checking out. Only problem is cutting into end of season hunting time.

This show offers a variety of military accoutrements such as medals, patches, pins, battle gear and firearms. It's not a "gun" show, chances are you wont see grandpa's favorite shotgun or the latest Ruger 10/22 configuration. But if you like military history you may see artifacts and relics from the World Wars, the Amerinan Civil War, Vietnam and Korea. Firearms are not typically the main item found on each table, that does not mean that ther are none though, it's just that what you will see are typically military arms. Carbines, Garands, occasional machine guns, bolt rifles, percussion and flintlocks.
