Mini-14 pics

I found this one perched in a pawn shop for 3 and some change last year so, you know, I just couldn't leave it there all alone. The serial has 182 in front of it so some of you mini experts skool me on it. 🙂

Found the rear sling swivel mounting slots - put the 2 point sling right back on. Maybe helpful to point this out on the stock installation instructions . . . Samson sells a QD adaptor but with shipping it’s $25 for one, $35 for a pair.

Neat setup for the mini folder.

Very nice. Looks like made in 1980 or 1981, depending on the rest of the #'s.

I think it’s a pretty common thing with mini-14 because the brass is ejected pretty violently. You will probably have to use an adjustable gas block and tone it down some to get it to quit denting the brass.

Yup - I put reduced gas bushing in my mini 30 and an XP Wolff action spring.
Brass drops close now, it used to go 30-40 feet if it didn't bounce off the rafters in the range house.

Just sold this. 183. Got it in 1986. Killed many deer with this.

I will say this. The older 183 was extremely smooth and polished from ruger. I have both of the 580 series shown. While they been great rifles, they don’t feel like that old ruger.

I picked this one up yesterday, looking it over I don't believe it's ever been fired. 181 from 1978.

Good pix - need to figure out the sling attachment point on back end.
Plus reminds me how nice it is to have Ruger factory extended mags nowadays vs the cruddy Triple Ks.

I prefer the M1 style ejector of the older series like yours
