We recently fled Mecklenburg County to Lincoln County, so far so good. One thing I needed at the new house was an outdoor storage building. It was going in the back yard which is fenced with 4 ft tall chain link that has one gate. Gate is 8'-3" wide and what I wanted is a 10 x 12 building. Didn't seem like it would fix. I do have some property outside the fence so I thought I could take out one line post, move the building in and then replace the post. Other option was to have someone build on site.

First two places I talked with confirmed I'd have to take down the fence, not what I wanted to do. Didn't really want to do a build on site due to the time it would take. The next company I talked with said they could do an "up and over" delivery where they raise the building over the fence and set it down on the other side. Sounded good to me so that's what I went for.

For those who are not familiar with this operation, here's a few pics. Delivery guy was very good at his job and everything went off without a hitch.

Here's my situation before delivery. Building is going in the far corner, back left.

Hard part is done.

And on the ground. The trailer has a second axle in the rear that is perpendicular to the main 3 axles. I wish I would have gotten a picture of that. The driver wasn't able to back straight in to exactly where I wanted the building. He asked me where I wanted it and then he lowered the secondary axle which raised the primary off the ground and moved the trailer sideways until it was in position. This type of stuff just fascinates me.

All movement of the building on the trailer, the raising and lowering of the trailer, using the secondary axle, was done with a wireless remote control. Driver brought blocks to go under the building and did all the leveling. Building is turn key, roof is on paint is done, move it ready.

I've built two of these in the past so I looked at what Lowe's has to offer. Cost would have been $1200 more money and would not have included the roofing, paint or labor to build it.

So what company did you go with?

Patriot is a great outfit. Did the younger blonde guy do it. He's done 3 for me and I've recommended him to a few others.

Sheds are a funny thing, we seem to out grow them pretty quickly as we move stuff in. Next thing you know, the wife is starting to use the shed for everything she doesn't want in the house.. The kids grow up a bit , next thing you know,, all the old bikes and kid stuff gets moved into the shed. You then build a lean too attached to the shed for the lawn equipment. When I sold my last house, a storage shed of some sort was a priority. Found one with a 1800 sq ft shed , its equipped with a full kitchen, its own bathroom and half of it heated and AC/ed. Luckily, it has a separate 300 sq ft attachment for the yard stuff otherwise I would have ran out of room. Yes, I Live in the shed for the most part, the Wife has the house. But, I still need a bigger shed.

Slick work but thats not a cheap trailer setup. Guy moved one for my parents on a similar trailer and said trailer was about 50k time it was outfitted. Takes several moves to recoop that.

Building is an Old Hickory, manufactured in Tennessee and shipped out to their dealers. Purchased from Shiela's Sheds in Cherryville.

Same mfg I went with. The delivery had a remote controlled 3 wheel all terrain fork lift. Though mine was only an 8x12 and no fence to contend with, only trees.

This is next on our list of upgrades/must do once I get healed up. Our plan is get it moved in then build the fence up to the edges of it giving acess to the front from the fenced in area but have it taking up space out side of that.
