I’m tired of the GD arm chair critique of the gun owners. They bought a gun, protected their home, and didn’t stand down and all I hear is- “ man they give gun owners a bad name.” “We look bad when they come out on the lawn.” “Her trigger control needs work.” What’s real gun owner- a guy who shoots steel at a match and hides under the bed when the trash shows up and breaks down the front lawn gate?
Ok. Let's break this down. Since I am one of the "arm chair critique" folk you are irritated with here
"They bought a gun" yep. No issue
"Protected their home" debatable on a technical level , but they were absolutely willing to do so. So that's also fine.
"Didn't stand down" yep. Worthy of comment. Many would indeed stand down to some degree.
Now the rest of it in my opinion
Can't shoulder or hold a rifle correctly.
Fingers on triggers
Woman was one popped balloon away from blowing her husband's head off at least once.
Both waving the firearms around like they were watering the lawn. Not at all like they were holding a deadly weapon.
Lack of
To put it bluntly they were likely just as much a danger to themselves as any of the people marching on the mayor's house would of been.
This may come as a surprise to you but:
you can be a "real" gun owner and a complete idiot.
And
You can be in the right, protecting what is yours and still be an idiot and act in idiotic ways
They absolutely have the right to own those firearms and more, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but that doesn't mean they are responsible owners, it doesn't mean they know the first thing about what they were doing and it definitely does mean if I saw them at the range I would pack up and go home before I got a new piercing.
