Mounted a scope I had on the bench and headed off to the range.
Shot 10 rds at 25 yds just to christen the barrel and make sure I was on paper. Ran a rod thru the bbl and set up for 100 yards.
Target is one inch orange dot on white background. First two rds hit the dot then all went to hell in a hand basket. Next four shots were a little high and spreading, fifth was a flyer wide left. All shots had 50-60 seconds between shot and barrel only rose 42 degrees from 1st to last shot.

After a fifteen minute cool down and bore swab I ran five more with 1 minute between shots. Looked like a shot gun blast!
Packed her up and went home.
I was very disappointed in this rifle because even if it’s under $700 MSRP it should have performed better.

hard to tell from the pics, but is your scope impacting the barrel under recoil?
Was the scope mounted "good'n'tight" or with proper inch/pound torque driver?
what ammo?

Also check the stock screws.

Upon inspection today I find that I must apologize to Mossberg. I found that while torquing the mounting screws I inadvertently snapped one or it snapped under recoil. I’ll remount the scope using new Burris rings ( they’re already on the bench) and will return to the range Sunday.
Other than that little problem the rifle was pleasant to shoot. Action is smooth, length of pull is nearly perfect, and trigger is crisp at 2 lbs. my only regret is that it’s not threaded so I cannot use my can.
I’ll post follow up pics & info Sunday evening.

a FAT wrench and Fix-it-Sticks are great additions to the tool kit for scope mounting and field verification

Fix it sticks is exactly what I used to mount the scope. Never had a problem with it before but these rings were no name cheapies & the screw failed.
