I thought this was an interesting take on how he determines if Valve adjustments are needed.

 
Holy crap. This guy is so wrong.
Adding oil to a cylinder doesn't simulate doing a compression test on a warm engine. It is used to help point to valve leakage or worn rings as a source of compression loss.
Low compression would only be an indicator of NO valve clearance, not LOW valve clearance. The only way to know valve clearance is to check it.
Engines don't have virtually zero clearance when hot. There's no shortage of engines that are supposed to be checked hot and have very measurable clearances..
Lastly, when the valve faces wear the clearances get tighter, not wider.

This is the bad part about youtube. Everyone has a voice. Including folks teaching completely incorrect things.

Well,, I just watched the whole vid just because I was expecting to see something wild. But its actually pretty good and nothing to get real excited about.
