My mom works for the school system and just called to tell me there is/was an active shooter in Mt Tabor and the closest hospital is on lockdown, which I assume is Baptist. My wife works there and got a text that said Pray now.

The Forsyth County District Attorney would not release any more details about the suspect in custody, who allegedly shot and killed a student at Winston-Salem high school

Primary suspect is listed as Maurice Trevon Evans JR 11/30/2005, 15yo so I assume a student.
 
Shooter not caught, on snapchat saying he's headed for Reynolds HS to do the same.
 
Younger and younger now. Hope there are no deceased. He will never get out of the neighborhood.

5:05 p.m. UPDATE: The student killed Wednesday afternoon in the shooting at Mount Tabor High School has been identified as William Chavis Raynard Miller Jr.

It appears that this isn't the first time his family has been touched by violence.
From a 2006 obituary in the Winston-Salem Journal:
"On Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, Mr. William "Slim" Miller departed this life without a chance of saying goodbye. He was born Sept. 18, 1983, to Elvie Carpenter Jr. and Phyllis Miller, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Rembert. He leaves to cherish memories of him a daughter, Ma'Chielah Blakes; and a son, William Chavis Renard Miller Jr."

Once again the root cause isn't the gun, it's the violent nature of certain people and the blameless society we find ourselves living in. Hood rats gonna hood.
 
No background check on that piece either. Want to greatly reduce violence in school, one-way in thru a metal detector, one way out thru a metal detector. Like Hege use to do in Lexington I85 area. Road block next exit...all the cars dumped stuff out the windows and exited now and welcomed by the popo.

Ask you kids about what stuff is floating around in the school. The kids know.

I agree with this but I think a lot of parents would come up with a million and one excuses for why there shouldn't be metal detectors. Gun buster signs are so much less intrusive in their childrens lives.
 
It is a real shame that all the neighborhood stuff comes to school. But that is a very unfortunate way of life that stays around. The post above with the case law info is an explaining read. Take a minute and look at it. A complete waste of peoples lives

Neighborhood stuff comes into school more frequently than we know. Add social media and you create the conditions for all kinds of trouble.

I disagree. gunbuster signs make people think that guns might be present, and that could have negative mental effects, so we shouldn't use them. there are already laws and policies saying you can't have guns in schools, so there's no need to advertise them via gunbuster. it's just better to let things be, and take harsh action against the few they do catch breaking rules

this is the argument my university gave me after i beat them in court over over a firearm on campus.

The high school on the bad part or Roanoke. VA had metal detectors and fence around it when I was in high school. It almost looked like a minimum security prison.
