Movies that influenced your way of thinking.

I had a similar thread awhile back about books. So what movies influenced you?

For me there is only 1 that stands out. “Pump up the volume” released in 1987.

Lmao. Dude. I’m watching it right now.

Edit to add its what made me start this thread.

I was a lot like him in high school. Shy but with a lot to say and no outlet.

The movie didn’t make me start talking the corps, maturity and confidence did.

But I say what others are thinking all the time. In person, not anonymously.

The safety video "Remember Charlie".
Schindler's List changed the way I think about government and group-think.
Defending Your Life made me think about what courage and morality mean to me.
Star Wars and Jaws taught me that presentation matters.

It's not out yet. It's still being made but it's called "Get a Rope". It's about traitors who rise to power in a democracy and try to turn it in to a commie hell hole. It stars Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. It's not finished yet but they say the ending is going to be phenomenal. I can't wait. Hopefully it will be out before Yellowstone season 5.

Really tough question. I would have to say off the top of my head.

Band of Brothers has to be up near the top.

I love that series. I have it on Blu-Ray in the nice metal case and all the behind-the-scenes stuff (most of which is on YouTube now).

How/why has it influenced your way of thinking?

Honestly I have given this a lot of thought (really), it's hard for me to come up with a film that influenced the way I think. Books on the other hand have been profound and significantly influential.

Agreed, especially as I get older. But that small clip from the Gambler really summed up my position in life.

I have worn out one box set and bought another. My wife and I watch it every year around D-day and the Pacific around the anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

I grew up in a military household. My father was a Marine Vet and served in Korea. He talked me out of enlisting and it's one of my biggest regrets although he was probably right. I talked him into watching the series with me once before he passed and other than picking out the Hollywood cinematics vs. reality, he enjoyed it. It gave me an even greater appreciation for our Vets and what they have gone through on our behalf. I give to quite a few Veteran based charities these days.

Even on his death bed he would never tell me exactly what he did, nor did his timelines match up with his paperwork. The movie also helped me realize why.....
