I've got one of those little 2 barrel cobra derringers (in 9mm of all things) that's useless with regular ammo but amazing with snake shot. Since I'm never out in the yard without my muck boots on, I thought it might be interesting to try to come up with a holster that attaches to the top of the boot so I would always have a snake gun with me.

Any ideas?

How's the recoil with the snake shot?

I bet chiefjason could make one similar in size to a mag pouch, with a single clip to attach to the boot.

although, I'd probably just have it in my pocket

Totally manageable with a good 2' wide pattern at 6 feet. With regular 115gr ball 9mm it sucks. Hurts to shoot and wildly inaccurate. But I suspect it wasn't designed for 7-10 yard shots.

Sometimes I'm wearing sweats without pockets, but yea, pocket carry would make sense most the time.

You need you one of these arm deployment systems... ;)

I made a couple hybrids for them a while back. All those pointy edges and moving parts made it tricky. The main problem is that I'm not sure that thing is wide enough to use a stitched in clip. My LGS carries them so I could take a look.

I know this sounds crazy, but take a look at cell phone pouches. Since you mainly need a clip, and not conceal, they might work.

I had actually thought about that, or perhaps a small camera bag or one of the 'sneaky pete' style pouches.

I don't know I would want to put my hand down low enough for a snake to bite it. lol

That is exactly what I was thinking. If I walk up on a copperhead/moccasin/rattlemonster I want to be able to slip the gun out real quietly without a lot of movement, and I sure don't wanna stick a hand down where he could reach it. Pocket or cell phone/camera case would be the way to go. or, dump the derringer and get something like this. Kinda pricy but perfect for what you want. https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.c...ndguns-for-sale-or-trade/86639-s-w-360-pd-357

I have a S&W governor as my 'real' snake gun, hang it off my chainsaw chaps when I'm working in the brush. Works well, it's just not always with me.

Snake guns. Yeah, okey dokey. Too much trouble to reach for a shovel I guess.

When I use the have to walk miles of sewer lines to check manholes I wanted to carry as little as possible. So I grabbed one of the small Derringers for the exact same reason, but I still had my ccw weapon on as well.

Sewer lines? It sounds like you are the one that really needed a shovel!

Did you end up buying something? I picked up a naa 22wmr today and I'm looking for the same thing.

Where did you find one?
I picked it up on a trade yesterday. It came with the aftermarket grip. If my hand rides the top part I can get a full the finger grip on it.

Been a while, but have you considered just attaching a couple magnets to the top of the boot?

I've been pulling magnets out of hard drives before recycling them.... so I have a collection of really strong magnets. I'm going to give that a try when I get home tonight.

If you implant one in each ankle, you'll never be w/o a holster regardless of the day's foot fashion choice!
