Alright, finally after 3 1/2 months waiting on everything and about a year deciding on what to build it’s finally happening:

Tikka T3 action standard .473 bolt face

X-Caliber 1:8 barrel 277. currently 1.210 straight contour might have it turned down to 1.15 but not sure as this isn’t gonna be something i take through the woods and the extra weight for me isn’t a bad thing.

gonna have the barrel throated for the 170gr Berger EOL and since the 165 accubond LR are close in length should be fine

MDT LA LSS-XL chassis hopefully will be sporting a MDT V3 stock

Harris Bi-Pod

Mountain Tactical 20moa base

Riton 8-24 Conquer 3 FFP mil scope and rings

only pics i have current currently

It's nice to see a different caliber than the typical .223, .308, or 6.5 and curious to see how it shoots when you get it all together. I've always hoped that someone would expand the selection of bullets for this caliber and it looks like Berger is doing it. The same goes with the .25's.

👍

i’ve always been one to go against the grain lol as the components i’ve been needing have been a lot easier to find than the more main stream stuff

i almost got the reamer and dies for a 270 sherman, but couldn’t justify the cost for a max of 200FPS gain, and still have to fire form. if everything was “normal” you dang skippy i’d have a sherman lol.

over the years i’ve been hesitant to put together a bolt action but i’m finding it easier to match components than an AR10 lol.

I always thought the 270 winchester had potential to be good longer range cartridge, but there weren't any good bullets available for it. Good to see this has changed! Good luck and keep us posted with progress.

i never thought of it as much other than a hunting cartridge lol. but after digging around it made sense. though finding those berger’s came to be a bit of a challenge but i found a bunch of the 165gr accubond long range and that’s what really pushed me to go ahead with the 270win.

but we shall see how everything goes.

There are plenty of great 6.5 and 7mm bullets......... so the .277 is right in between there......so why not have some better bullets!!! Combine a good bullet with the case capacity of the 270 win....... the potential is there. The 270 win has similar case capacity to some of the short magnum cartridges. If you can use some magnum powder such as R25, H100, or something along that line, who knows what it possible with that cartridge.

i wanted long and heavy and almost went with a 7mm SAUM/WSM/Sherman but found a decent deal on the tikka i got and didn’t wanna open the bolt face up just yet, and paired with finding the heavies it was a sealed deal. but when i do a pair of matching rifles for the wife and i i’ll be doing a 7max for those

i’m actually picking up some RL26 which seems one of a few powders Berger recommends. Also have Magpro (also a recommended powder from Berger) and some WC857 (close to the burn rate of H1000) to try

MarkandSam on youtube did one but he has a 30” and getting 2950ish with H1000 so i should be close at 28/29” to that.

alright here are my dummy rounds, and all the info i got

COAL are different, but the base to o-jive are the same.

the accubonds are gonna be mag fed, while the bergers are gonna be single fed

ssssssssooooooo made a boo boo, learned a lesson, and now spawns a second

so the tikka the my wife will be shooting. it’s gonna be sporting a 26” benchmark 1:8 heavy palma barrel and the MDT chassis,

my excalibur barrel is now gonna be backed by a Defiance Tenacity action. unknown stock/chassis at the moment. might go with the same chassis as the tikka

gonna get the action polished used and what not.
