IMG_2500.JPG This happened in a dang parking lot. My wife was inside. 83 yr old lady said her gas got hung when she was backing out of her spot. I'm guessing she nailed the gas instead of the brake. Can you believe 8k in damage???

eight grand??? Is the car even worth that much?
Not a slight on the your car, I have a small economy car in the same price range as the Scions were, and if they came back and said 8k then my insurance co would just total her

15 with a little less than 70k miles. I though they would total it but they put the value at 15k. They said it was just under the amount needed to total it. I was going to keep it anyway.

They have already paid me. It happened on Labor Day . 7639 in damage and 750 in loss of use. I'm gonna jerk the bumper off,,and try to push the metal out where the lift gate will seal. It latchs fine but there is a 1" gap where that back corner is pushed in. It still rides
The excact same

8k to fix it. But what about depreciation value from have a wrecked vehicle? Dont let them (insurance co. ) conveniently over look that
NC doesn't have diminished value laws. I'll have to fight that sperately once it repaired if I choose to fix it correctly. Probably just half ass
It and keep rolling

Man sorry to see that,I hope its fixed soon.

She was probably using both feet. Left foot on the brake and right foot on the gas. I see people going up hill with brakes on going 65 mph all the time, its getting more common(not just the elderly). I'd make people mad if I stated the most common groups of drivers.

Did you take the picture with your foot?

Hate your car got messed up. Glad to see you back on the forum

go get a real mans bumper with a tire swing out...this will help you grow a few hairs back on your man card....or maybe just replace it with bubble wrap....

yeah I can see this,, old white folks do this all the time. Sometimes we even drive into a store and get on the news.. My Mother used to live in a retirement home and her car got hit at least twice a year along with all the other residents. They found who was doing it,, was this old man and when confronted, he had no idea hes been hitting other people cars. The staff contacted his family and they took his car away and then the State took away his license.

A coworker bumped into my truck last month in the parking lot and dented the bumper. He then drove and hid his truck on the other side of the building. But my boss saw the whole thing. We called Cary PD. The lying turd first denied it, said he was at the dentist. Cop told him that he had witnesses and the damage on his truck was fresh and matched mine. He still denied it. Finally cop told him that he could tell the truth, or he could be marched out of the office in handcuffs in front of his coworkers. That brought out the truth, and I got my truck fixed, courtesy of his insurance.

The officer was great in the way he investigated it, and got the truth out of that POS. I'll be buying him something nice from the ABC store.

He still working there?

He still working there?
For simplicity, I said he was a coworker, but it's a building with several tenants, and he works for one of the other tenants, not my company. I didn't know him before the accident. I've seen his truck in the parking lot since so I guess he still works there. But when we identified the driver via the plates, and where he worked, the officer went to the driver's business and asked to speak with him. They brought out his manager, who said the driver had just left. The manager then dialed the driver and handed the phone to the officer. The manager overheard the conversation with the driver lying and telling the officer he was at the dentist, and ultimately, the manager saw the man get a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident. That can't be good for your career.

Later that day, driver left a note on my windshield asking if we could handle it without the insurance company. I didn't even respond, I just called his insurance. It was only a $1200 repair, and if he had shown any integrity I might have helped him out, but given his behavior, I didn't think that was wise.
