Anyone know of or have any land that is available for a long term hunting lease? Ideally, land would be within an hour's drive of High Point. I am a responsible hunter looking for a safe area for my son and I to hunt. I can do 70 to 100 acres alone or am willing to lease with one or two other responsible hunters to share a larger tract. I'd like to find a place that we can put some work into in order to establish and maintain proper food plots.

Please help a brother out. I haven't hunted this season and I think my wife and I are going to kill each other. Don't let it be on your conscience if you see our story on the news. Just kidding but please.

Just out of curiosity, what do hunting leases usually cost per acre? I'm sure it varies depending on the land and who you know, but ballpark?

I'm seeing around $9 to $10 per acre around here (NE SC). Ridiculous in my opinion but I guess I feel that way because I'm fortunate enough to have family with upwards of 700 acres that I hunt regularly. If I didn't have that I would either probably not be hunting much or paying $1000 or more per year to hunt someone else's land with a bunch of Yahoos.

Some folks came for other areas of NC and rented my Uncles farm for $20 acre.

Yep, it is tough even to find places to lease anymore. I hunted public lands all my life, till I moved to the country and got a small parcel, big enough to hunt. As a kid, my dad and friends leased land down east for quail hunting. Believe it was 50 cents an acre back then. Deer herd improved and deer hunting got popular and went from 50 cents to 2 bucks in one year. That is when he said the deer hunters could have it.

If I didn't have kids I would consider hunting game lands. However, my kids like to go with me when the weather is decent, so I do not want to risk it. Too many irresponsible and unsafe hunters on the game lands.
