well, you just knew it was coming.

quote:
“As of late, it seems that every inventory item that I type into the order form for the ABC,
it said out of stock, out of stock, out of stock. Every single one of them,”
said Daniel Weiss at Wine Loft in South End.

because they're forcing everybody to wear masks, and some of us refuse?

My wife just drove back up to MI for a week or two. She stopped by a costco, where they can sell liquor, and bought me 3 1.75L bottles of kirkland vodka and 2 1.75L bottles of jack daniels.
Cheap and decent enough that you can drink it without gagging.

Screw these county ABC store nazis

I went by the ABC store in Newland last week and they were out of Jack Daniels! OUT OF JACK DANIELS! No pints, no fifths, no half gallons, no Gentleman Jack, no Single Barrel,….no nothing! Damn!

Now, I have plenty stored up here at the house but I was at the camper .

Here's the biggest reason why NC sucks:

In that same year, Mecklenburg County Commissioners approved a resolution to continue ABC stores.

“That’s the way I’ve done it and just the way that it’s going to be. I don’t think it’s going to change,” Rabb said.

Of all the idiotic ideals that society chooses to act "progressive" about, why hasn't this policy been more challenged.

If it gets worser, I'm pretty close to the SC state line and don't mind scouting a bit for MIA hooch for you gents.

You misunderstand what Progressive means. It means progressing toward more control and power. Never giving those things up.

Maybe it's just an attempt to keep the MIA Texans and Pelosi away.

I’m heading to Tennessee this weekend and I’ll stock up some more while there. They have real liquor stores there and not this state run crap that we have! I scored 3 fifths of Buffalo Trace a couple weeks ago when I was there and at a decent price! Ill pick up a couple or 3 half gallons of JD and whatever else I can find.

lowspeed....some questions:

1. are the 30-40 that you can get the same ones?
2. what do you order that is out-of-stock the most?
3. please post your advice about what to buy if-you-see-it.

Most of you know I own a bar. I usually order around 100 bottles per week. Lately I've been lucky to get 30-40 bottles in my order.

If you don't mind whatever it costs, wait, I think I'm treading on something illegal and I keep forgetting about the alphabet bois lurking here.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I was going to say that the restaurant and bar industry are the ones who are going to get killed by this. They can't buy from out of state IIRC.

Lately, the ABC stores have been out of most top shelf liquor. High end tequilas have been in short supply for weeks. This week, my assigned store was out of Jack Daniels, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and several others that we use here. It doesn't matter so much with the well varieties. It's easy to substitute them.

update:
Earlier this week, The Charlotte Observer reported North Carolina ABC Commission Chairman Zander Guy Jr.
acknowledged the statewide shortage, with a spokesperson adding strains on global supply chains have impacted a number of products.

Well if there is a shortage of MD20/20 or Wild Irish Rose the street drinkers will go to Raleigh and raise hell thus fissing the problem.

update:

quote:
"We are seeing many global supply chain challenges ranging from steel supply (for barrel making) to key packaging materials (glass), all the way through the supply chain to issues with shipping container availability and timing for finished good case transportation," Brown-Forman spokeswoman Elizabeth Conway tells Salon.

Frugal MacDoogal Beverage Warehouse 3630 Festival Dr, Fort Mill, SC 29708 (803) 548-6634 https://g.co/kgs/zjnsN1

That is all.

They were busy and selling a crap ton yesterday and had PLENTY of stock
and side note to those who like to drink stuff with a bite they also have Everclear in the 190 proof unlike these pansy arse NC ABC stores

I knew we should have sought out a couple of package stores when were in Savannah a couple of weeks ago.

Dang it!

Could be worse. Until a few years ago, you could only buy 6-packs at a bar up here (OVERpriced as well). Had to go to a specialty beer store, and buy a CASE at a time (to protect local PA breweries and make them, "competitive"). The ONLY reason it "worked," is because we're the DRUNKEST state in the Union. 🥴

You STILL only have LIMITED stores (with state licenses, OF course) that can sell 6-packs mind you, but they're a little easier to find in the two "blue anchors" of PA.

And yeah, WE'RE stuck with state-run maskhole staffed stores, too.

I see it as a catch-22. It really has little to no effect on the price or availability of "run-of-the-mill" products, as they stay pretty much the same regardless of sales structure. The difference really only manifests with the high end allocateds.

The bad thing about state run stores is, unless you have a buddy that is an insider who tips you off to shipments and/or holds bottles in the back room for you, you will almost NEVER find a top tier allocated bottle on the shelf. But the good thing about state run stores is that if lightning ever strikes the outhouse and you DO find a unicorn (or win one in a store lottery) it is sold to you at MSRP.

By contrast, if you switch to "private" liquor stores, you will finally be able to find allocateds on the shelf on demand at a few select stores. But they will only be available because they will be marked up on average 500%-2000% over retail. To most folks, there is no practical difference between there being no bottles of Pappy on the shelf for $200 and there being plenty of bottles of Pappy on the shelf for $2500.

You are right. But the mark-up is still happening a lot in NC on the secondary market.
Many of the connected or lucky people who can find the rare bottles cheap in NC, turn around and resell them for profit.
In my opinion - make it free market. The government should not be regulating the prices.
