If you have used an AR wedge in your lower and like them, please post a link

I tried one once because I was at a gun show and saw a few so I grabbed a couple. Didn’t affect the accuracy of this particular rifle, and tightened up any slop, but made the rear take down pin a huge pain in the ass to push out.

Accu - Wedge...

Get em from Brownells, Midway, etc.,etc.

I have some that are over 20 years old since installed and they still work as new.
They do make the Takedown Pin "harder" to push out, but you can squeeze the upper and lower together with one hand to to take pressure off the pin and push it out with your other hand.

+1 for the accu wedge. Worked as intended for a sloppy rifle i had. I tried it on a gun with a little play and couldn't get the upper to seat. I've heard you can trim them but i didn't bother and the rifle worked fine.

What they all said ^.

I have some rifles that were sloppy that they cleaned up. I have one that has just a little play and I tried to trim an accuwedge to fit but never found the sweet spot. Couldn't get the upper to close on the lower with even a sliver remaining so I gave up. I'll live with that one. Doesnt affect function or accuracy just annoying.

So they work for really sloppy rifles and may not if there's just a little play.

I use them on two lowers. Both pretty good but the wedge tightens them up. Took a bit to get a good takedown technique working.

I do like the M4E1 lowers with the poly tipped screw. There are billet lowers (edit: and forged) that have that feature as well. Nice to have.

Take a foam earplug, shove it in there. Problem solved.
Use two if there's lots of slop or you have small ear holes.

But the Accuwedge is good too.

I've got a Barnes lower and a Tactical Innovations lower that both have that feature. Very nice to have.

I had exactly the same experience about 15 years ago. I threw mine in the trash and never looked back.

I bought a 7.62x39 AR15 pistol on gunbroker. It was a pile of out of spec parts that would rattle when you shot it. They even had the hammer spring in backwards...
To tighten up the slop between the upper and lower, it cut some thin strip of aluminum ducting tape, and put two layers on each side of the lower. Now it's tight and it cut my group size down by 1/2".
I ended up putting a new barrel on also. When fed Barnes XLC it'll shoot 3/4" groups. Works great on short range deer and hogs.
